Wasn't he originally an Indiana commit? I could have sworn he left high school in Arizona, moved to Indianapolis for his senior year and then the IU coach was fired and he looked at UCLA. Somehow wound up at BYU. I'd take an experienced point for a year but still want to find that big man.

More Carlino info:   http://www.planetbyu.com/2012/03/as-ucla-is-engulfed-in-shame-matt-carlino-shines-for-byu/

Carlino represents exactly the type of extremely gifted, motivated player that UCLA is known for. The budding star received his first verbal scholarship offer from then-Arizona coach Lute Olson when Carlino was still in seventh grade.

By the time he finished high school, Carlino had assembled a laundry list of accolades, a glossy record of wins, and an eye-popping stats sheet. Carlino’s family had moved from Arizona to Indiana his sophomore year and Matt accepted a verbal offer to play for nearby powerhouse Indiana. But the winds of change kept blowing.

After playing high school ball a year in Indiana, Carlino de-committed from a Hoosiers program that was engulfed in coaching changes, NCAA violations, and consecutive losing seasons.

Eventually, Carlino decided to take his game to Los Angeles. “I already liked UCLA from when I was recruited before Indiana,” Carlino told a UCLA student newspaper before his freshman year began. “I checked out the campus, hung out with some of the guys, and just really love it there. I love the coaches – Coach Howland is a great coach – and I just thought it was a good situation.”

Man that guy has been the model of consistency for the past three years. You pretty much know what you're going to get...

-13 PPG

-3.5 Rebs

-1.75 Steals

-40% FG

-34% 3 Pt.

-2:1 Assist-TO

Nothing wrong with throwing your name into the hat, but this kid will have a long list of potential suitors.

He was born in Lincoln, so we have that going for us..which is nice.

With Hawk leaving, we need ballhandlers who can shoot, this guy, and another will be much needed, along with the bigman thats been sorely needed since Diaz, and AA left.
