hskr4life Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 Just don't know guys... Are we in? It will be close. I want to say we are in, but I just don't know. Quote
TomEadesSucks Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 We're in. Just gotta play the waiting game. Quote
kldm64 Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 We might be back to a "play in" game again which would really suck. Quote
AuroranHusker Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 We might be back to a "play in" game again which would really suck. And, to think, it's possible that it could be against Dayton in DAYTON! Quote

aphilso1 Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 We're in. There just aren't that many bubble teams still playing with a chance to jump us, and there aren't that many nobodies still playing with a chance to steal a bid. The small conference tournies all went according to plan with no bid stealers. I don't see how we could be left out. Quote
brfrad Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 That was coming from the same guy who said Nebraska was in barring a loss to Purdue. Quote
49r Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 I'm gonna root like hell against Northwestern tonight. Sorry Noah, I just can't take any chances... Quote
brfrad Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 I'm sorry Jerry Palm has us as a lock. I would trust him over this guy. Quote
nuled2dance Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 We are fine deep breath...we won't be in play in game either. Just may have a 4-5 see matchup which will be tough but who cares. Some of you who we talking sweet sixteen runs are in crack. As I have said this team has pg issues and rebounding issues. Ohio state had second chances all day. We new some more size. Hope we can steal a first round win would be amazing! greymonkey 1 Quote
tcp Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 good side is losing to a ranked OSU team on a neutral court in a nailbiter isn't going to hurt us any. obviously winning would have helped us tremendously, but them's the breaks. i think we're looking at an 11 seed right now. greymonkey 1 Quote
GoBigRed Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 Good news is almost everyone below us is done playing, except for Providence, Minnesota and Southern Miss. Really need Minnesota to lose tonight. Providence beating a bad Seton Hall team should not put them ahead of us, you would hope. Quote
Cybrrmonky Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 I actually don't think the loss is devastating. Really disappointing to be up 18 in the 2nd half & completely collapse, but not devastating. I thought a win today would pretty much lock us in as an 8 or 9 seed. Being an 8 or 9 you'd be likely facing another "hot" team or a team that once was good that fell on hardtimes. Those games are toss ups, then if you win you're staring at the #1 next game. This pretty much locks us in as an 10 but more likely an 11. Win against the 6 seed & you're looking at a 2nd round matchup against a #3 (but we all know how often 14 seeds beat 3's so it could even be a 14). I love us at an 11 seed to make a run in the tournament. This game might have been a good wake up call. Unless the "big goal" was winning the conference tourney I don't see today's loss as hurting us to much. Seeding wise it might set us up better (as long as we don't have to play that extra game Tuesday in Dayton). But even if so, one of those play in teams has been making a run every year. But I really don't see us as one of the "last 4 in". We've shown we belong in the tournament. Those last 4 are the "iffy" ones. Iowa should slide down to that level before us (if they are in at all). Appreciate the reasoned approach after I had just finished watching the game. I came away from this game completely pissed because I desperately wanted NU to make a run at a conference crown! Next up is to get a 'right' seed in the Big Dance, maybe have a lil' vitriol on the Huskers' side from this heartache, and do their B1G damage on the big stage. Now, that would do more for Nebrasketball in the long run anyways. Quote
Cybrrmonky Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 The seedings of the 10 thru 12 at larges is all a crap shoot. I really don't see us being in a play in game over someone like Iowa who has a lower RPI, lower strength of schedule & who's lost 6 of their last 7. If anyone should be in a play in game from the Big10 its Iowa. Really he's just moving Providence off the last 4 in line up to the last 4 byes line (b/c they won & we lost). Really I'm looking at his 10 seeds & see lots of teams that could get moved down (SMU, Iowa & Arizona St) could all get moved down. I just don't see how a team that has lost only 3 games in their last 15, finished FOURTH (by themselves) in a difficult 12 team league could get moved all the way down to not even making the tourney in the "old" 64 team format. Iowa & SMU have done plenty to play their ways out of the tourney in itself. We've done everything a team could do to play their way in. Anyone who watched today's game knows we aren't "limping" our way in. On a side note I don't really see how the committee will handle Dayton. Will they be able to put them in a "play in" game at home? I could see the committee move them up to the final 64 & dropping a team down to the play in b/c it really wouldn't be fair to have Dayton play a home game. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 Here is what was written on us in that article/tweet. Nebraska: When the Cornhuskers went up by 18 against Ohio State, we were penciling Nebraska into the bracket. However, a collapse down the stretch allowed the Buckeyes to get the win -- and now Nebraska has to wait to hear whether it will be dancing. There is obviously optimism in Lincoln, but I don't think they're a lock just yet. The wins over Wisconsin, Ohio State and Michigan State look good, but they are 4-7 against the top 50, 8-9 against the top 100, and have three sub-100 losses. Moreover, they have a 4-11 record away from home. The RPI and SOS are solid, and they are playing well late in the season. It will be very close. I think Nebraska gets in, but it's not a sure thing. Cybrrmonky Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 If either SMU & Iowa are in & seeded above us, I'm pissed. If you use the blind formula, both of them come up short when compared head to head against us. Only reason they are getting so much respect is b/c they were ranked. Wisconsin just showed what a power house & how well they are playing. Those guys are surely a ONE seed if they finish out winning the conference tourney. We beat them during the time period where they were playing best. I think the members of the committee watch enough big time basketball that they'll put us in & seed us appropriately. There is little difference between us & Ohio St (I actually think we are better but we didn't close it out today). We're much better than Iowa there is NO WAY they should be seeded above us. If we're in one of the play in games, Iowa is in the NIT. Nobody has that scenario. But Iowa fans should be sweating. I still think we're going to be a 10 or 11 seed & in the round of 64. greymonkey and Nebrasketballer 2 Quote

Not that playing in Dayton is going to happen to us, but the NCAA has already said that despite the rule against playing on your own home floor, they would let Dayton play at home if that is where they end up. They would not get bumped up to avoid them having a home game. They also would not move the game to avoid the conflict due to the short timeframe. FYI, the tickets to the first round are sold as a part of the Dayton season ticket package. Quote
Cybrrmonky Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 In all honesty, I think Dayton deserves to be bumped up over that 'last 4 in' line. There's other teams the "bracketoligists" have as byes that need to be moved out of the field or down (Iowa, KState, SMU, Arizona St). Quote
