Still.  Ninety percent is a big number when you're talking about returning scoring.  That might not be such a big deal if you were talking 90% of the scoring returning from a team currently in the 300s.  But a team in the top 50 that returns 90% of its scoring ... will we be ranked pre-season next year?  Seems like we should be, right?

I think a lot of that will depend on how the next two to three weeks go. If we lose on Friday then in the first round, then we might not, but if we get to the semis of the BTT and win a game or two in the big tournament, then I'd imagine we will be.

Random tangent, I'll be curious to see who they pair us with in the B1G/ACC challenge.

PLEASE BE DUKE PLEASE BE DUKE PLEASE BE DUKE...

Maryland... (oh wait!  :o )

Seriously, it could certainly be UNC or Dook.

Most likely, it won't be UNC or Duke as we wouldn't be the draw that a Michigan or Indiana has to play those schools yet.  It would be awesome if we did but guessing we'll get paired up with middle of the pack team yet.

If I was a bettin' man, I'd put money on it being Clemson or Florida State.

#11 Syracuse -------- 14-4 (27-4)

#7 Duke  ------------- 13-5 (24-7)

#15 North Carolina -- 13-5 (23-8)

Pittsburgh ------------ 11-7 (23-8)

Clemson  ------------- 10-8 (19-11)

North Carolina State -- 9-9 (19-12)

Florida State ----------- 9-9 (18-12)

Maryland --------------- 9-9 (17-14)

Miami (FL) ------------- 7-11 (16-15)

Wake Forest ----------- 6-12 (16-15)

Georgia Tech ---------- 6-12 (15-16)

I'm liking the Pitt-Nebrasketball matchup at the Vault! That would be suh-weet!

Keep in mind that some schools have really, really good recruiting classes coming in (Ohio State) and let's just enjoy the rest of this season.  I'm hoping we get that NCAA Tourney win, but let's get Ohio State on Friday!

Most schools, actually.  Iowa is putting together a pretty good looking class, and from what I understand so is Northwestern.  (Northwestern!)  Maryland is bringing what I understand to be a top 25 class in as well.

Also keep in mind that Indiana, Illinois, Purdue, and Minnesota really underperformed this year and will be looking to have greatly improved seasons in 2014-15.

Finally, our schedule is going to pick up in difficulty next year, so we're going to have to work hard to match (or improve on) this year's record.

So, 49r, where do you think we'll be when Kenpom comes out with his pre-season rankings this fall?

Top 50, I'd imagine.  We return what?  95%-98% of our scoring from this year?

Gallegos averages 7 ppg & the team ~68... so 2014-15 scoring will be closer to 90% returning.

It actually will be closer to 75 % when you factor in Biggs departure which his computer will still count in the final stats.

We're probably going to be picked in the top 4 next year (i don't see why we wouldn't be) so we'd probably play one of the top 4 teams.

since we were at home this year, likely it will be on the road... but it's possible that the B1G might try to showcase PBA against a top non-conference team ... so you don't know for sure and won't until the schedule comes out.

The name I'm not hearing anyone say here is Syracuse.  That one wouldn't shock me at all.

Kinda forgot about Mr. Biggs on this Nebrasketball surge... As it stands, BIggs hasn't even played in half of the games; but, Dev did average 9.9ppg in 15 gm. So, it'll be like 4.5ppg to 5ppg "lost" overall which accounts for roughly 6-8% "lost" for an approx. compiled 83% returning scoring production.

I'd anticpate we'll be on the road, too, but with both conferences adding teams, I'd assume there will be a bit of a reset as to who hosts and who doesn't. That's why I think a trip to Duke or UNC or Syracuse or Louisville could be in the works, especially since the ACC had a suprise team win their league they might do a top Big Ten team play them and have us play a top ACC team.

Every year some people pick Wisconsin to finish outside the top 4 in the conference.

For the last 10+ years the worst they've finished is tied for 4th.

Gosh, I admire and respect what the Badgers have accomplished...

But here we are...they just may have to get used to being in the top 5!

I believe it's Illinois that has three stud transfers sitting out this season
