HuskerFever Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 I figured I'd open up the thread now since I know this discussion is going to come up in the near future. Have you heard any status on his injury? Worst-case, how will we need to adjust if he can't make it back into the rotation? What impact does Pitchford's absence have for our team? The floor is yours. kleitus 1 Quote
MichHusker Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 I've heard he hyper-extended it. Usually not the end of the world by any means. I'm just not sure that Pitch has the highest pain tolerance in the world so he hopefully made it seem worse than it actually was Quote
Cookie Belcher Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 Word from all sources is no ligament damage and he will be okay. Possible bone bruise. Likely out a couple games. Quote

Cybrrmonky Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 still would imagine they need to take an MRI to be sure. I'd agree with the statement of missing 2 games. With how it looked I see little to make me think he'd be a go for Purdue. We can beat Purdue at home without him anyway. We need him to heal so he doesn't limp around the rest of the year or risk further injury. Walt has really started to blossom the last few games. He, Pettaway & Shields are going to be scary good next year. Webster tonight showed the potential we saw early this year. His shooting stroke looked better than I've ever seen. He's beginning to come around. Quote
PimpMario Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 He isn't "fine;" he has an injury to be concerned about but hopefully he only misses 1 or 2 games and when he comes back he can continue to find offense and play good minutes for us. Quote
GATA Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 Sounds like he's gonna try to play through it, although he admitted he's in a great deal of pain right now. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 From my view it looked like a possible hyper-extension. Hopefully it is just a bruise...if so, he shouldn't have to miss a game. It goes into the category of pain vs injury. Quote
HuskerFever Posted February 21, 2014 Author Report Posted February 21, 2014 We kneed him. George Beadle, 49r, jdostal and 2 others 5 Quote

hhcscott Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 I don't know if there is a player we would miss more than Walter. I know Terran seems the obvious one, but we do have Shavon, Ray and Nathan who could cover his roles for a game or two against teams from the bottom half of the B1G, but Walter's skill set and size are not comparable to anyone else on the team. I love Leslee's effort and hustle, but he's been struggling for awhile now. Quote

HuskerCager Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 I had one eye on the court and the other on the entrance for the last 8 minutes of the game, hoping he would come back out. Relieved to hear it isn't more serious. Norm Peterson 1 Quote

Whatever it is I want to se Leslee get his game back from the early season Norm Peterson 1 Quote
Cybrrmonky Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 he was carried off the floor for a bruise? He might have an Alex Maric level of pain tolerance (he'd go down like a Euro soccer player on contact) Quote
nuled2dance Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 He i fine. It's a bruised knee he was laughing and it did hurt but should be able to play Sunday. Is he 100% no...but no MRI and no all/mcl Norm Peterson 1 Quote

Also a bone bruise is different than your standard bruise. Quote
AuroranHusker Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 The opponent's elbow blasted Walt directly beneath the knee while Walt was making a move toward the bucket... I'm sure it hurt like hell! After a few days of rest & treatment, it should not be much of an issue, thankfully. Quote

Cybrrmonky Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 Miles must have snuck in a couple roseries during that final 8 minutes, b/c it looked bad. Really looked like the curse of Nebraska basketball was rearing its head again. Anyone think this isn't an NCAA team? The way we are playing, with a healthy roster the odds of us winning out regular season are rising. 49r and Norm Peterson 2 Quote
