At Illinois.

Home Good.  Road Bad.

This.  The MSU win was great but It will continue to be tough for this team to win on the road.  After that...I would say Purdue only because of Hammonds who appears to be playing better.  He will be very tough for us to stop.  I really hope we can go 3-1 in the next 4 games.

Illinois on the road would figure to be the toughest, but none will be particularly easy on paper.  I think Penn St. is slightly more dangerous than Purdue.  NW would figure to be the easiest.  We are not that good.  We must keep grinding.  I think we can beat or lose to anyone in league anywhere.  Still believe closer to bottom than top in trems of margin for error.  Was encouraging that we probably didn't even play our best Sunday and won.

I know we've been successful at home, but it's not like we're untouchable. I would hate to hear "we should have beat Penn State" or "if only we beat Purdue" again this year. We still have 2.5 weeks of regular season to go. We've only played 80% of our total regular season games. It's that remaining 20% that builds our resume.

That doesn't mean the road games aren't tougher though. I'm not saying that the home games are a sure thing, they aren't anything close to that. But the road games are definitely tougher games than the home games.

10-1 vs 2-9

To just further the point about how much more difficult road games are, we have currently only played two teams both at home and on the road: Michigan and Ohio State.

Ohio State

Road: Lost by 31

Home: Won by 6

Michigan

Road: Lost by 29

Home: Lost by 1 (and should have won)

I agree they'll be tough. I guess my point was more along the lines of maintaining that intensity both at home and on the road, because one slip-up could certainly cost us the season.

I guess only if you think the season is lost if we don't make the NCAAs.  I don't look at it that way at all.

Poor word choice on my part, you're right. My statement was purely in relation to making it into the Big Dance. Any notion that our season was "lost" went out the door when we got some solid wins and have continued to climb our way up the B1G ladder.

They are all "tough," but it's the next ballgame that is the toughest w/ the big road win that earned lots of accolades still getting a lot of play nationally.  I'd imagine Miles & Co. have discussed the staying "in the moment" aspect of not chalking up any W's before they happen.  As it's been proven time & time again, anyone in the B1G can beat anyone else in the conference, home or away.  It's been a wild ride so far this season, only hope NU can continue their winning brand of basketball at the Vault tomorrow night.

We are at another point in the learning process.  Winning games that have more downside than upside.  The fans have to learn this as well.  We need to make a difference and help the team learn how to clear this important hurdle.

yep. playing as the favorite is rarefied air for us, and this week will be a test of that. we're used to ambushing people. we're not used to being ambushed.

this is a very dangerous week for us, both because of our historical baggage of suck under pressure and also because I think it's easy for our young guys to think they might be out of the woods right now. every team is looking for a breather week to get a break from the grind, and the teams that do that are losing games.
