Wow, That's a lot of unfortunate news in about ten seconds from Robin Washut's twitter account Quote

ajb5856 Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Wow. I wonder if there was an incident that led to both of these things happening. Referring to Tyrance and Gallegos. Quote

Norm Peterson Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 If we can beat FGCU without Ray, it bodes well for next year. That's a silver lining in all of this, right? Feel bad for Hawkins but fortunately he's still feeling out a possible redshirt year and maybe that's the thing that tips the scales one direction vs. the other. Tyrance leaving is curious. Makes one wonder if it has anything to do with what got Ray in trouble. Sends a signal to the rest of the guys not to get in trouble. Quote

Norm Peterson Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Jordan left to focus on school Um, yeah. Probably time to do that, huh? This being, like, his 4th year with the basketball program and all. In other words, I don't buy that as being the reason. hugh42 1 Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 In their freshman year I would see JT and Rey at some Southwest games. Quote

Not a good start from that standpoint. hhcmatt 1 Quote
hskr4life Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Sad to hear about Ray... Jordan decision was interesting. Sounds like Hawkins may and should redshirt. Quote

Jordan also has a daughter, and this just gives him more time to focus on school and his personal life. I've known Jordan personally since we were kids and I can almost guarantee it wasn't due to disciplinary issues tcp, throwback, Noah121 and 5 others 7 1 Quote
a0t0w0 Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 What's usually best case scenario for return from a stress fracture? Tryance came in and did things when needed last year. It's a big loss if we start getting injured. Ray, Ray, Ray...what have you done? Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 This starting to look like it will be a game of who is left on Friday. Still like our chances. Quote
Concrete Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Who's starting now? Guessing we'll go with the same 5 that we did against UNK. Webster/Shields/Petteway/Smith/Pitchford Personally I think we'd be better off putting Pitchford at the 3, Petteway at 4, and Smith at 5. Quote
Red Rum Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 So this is because we felt sorry for FGCU for only having possibly 6 scholarship player right? Its too early to start feeling like we can't have nothin. Silverbacked1 1 Quote
hskr4life Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Good thing is, we still have a guard (Benny) to come off the bench! Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 At least the coaches have some time to game plan this. And we do have some guys who have played on the big stage. Not like we are starting 3 freshman, a junior and a former ball boy. And FGCU isn't the same team that made the run late last year. Quote
Navin R. Johnson Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Robin Washut @RobinWashut8m Expect #Nebrasketball to have the same starting five Friday night as it did vs UNK: Webster, Petteway, Shields, Pitchford and Smith. Quote
throwback Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Very disappointing with Rey - not how you should start your senior year - going to make Friday's game that much tougher. Tyrance also may be just seeing the writing on the wall - it'd have to be tough as a walk-on to go from getting a good chunk of competitive minutes last year to have very little chance to see the floor this year other than in garbage time. Perhaps he wanted to use the preseason practices to let the rotation play out & see where he stacked up before making a decision. Hawkins' injury probably means that Fuller plays this season now, unless Coach Miles wants to go with a really short bench vs FGC - with Hawkins, Rey, and Biggs out Friday and with Vooch likely not to play, that's 8 scholarship players available vs FGC including Fuller. Coach could try to go with the other 7 plus Peltz to try to preserve Fuller's ability to redshirt, but my guess would be Fuller plays Friday and doesn't redshirt now. It certainly would be short-sighted to burn a redshirt just because we're short-handed for one game, but I'd guess Fuller was leaning toward playing and not redshirting and these occurrences will just make the final decision easier. Does Peltz see minutes in the first half too Friday? So maybe a 9-man rotation? Quote
hskr4life Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 So did Ray sit out Monday due to this incident too?? or was he really hurt? Quote
FredsSlacks Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Webster, Petteway, Shields, Pitchford and Smith is still a solid starting lineup bench - parker -fuller -Rivers -Vooch walkons. We'll be fine. Quote
hskr4life Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Echo what was said above. Still a pretty good though young starting five. And a pretty decent top 8 when you throw in Fuller Rivers and Parker. Should be fine. Quote
