I'm in Section 122 and I thought the concessions were fantastic there.  I brought my 5 yr old to the game and we got to sit at a table and eat with a Big Screen in front of us.  I couldn't ask for much better.

It's also kind of hard to make it like the bob when you have almost 6000 more seats than the Bob. Those seats have to go somewhere...unless you expected them to double up and have people sitting in your lap.

6,000 more seats???   I think PBA capacity is a little bigger than BDSC was at the end (Isn't Pinnacle about the same as BDSC was when it was built (around 14,500) but BDSC capacity got smaller each time they changed bleacher seats to chairbacks).

But certainly Pinnacle capacity is not 6,000 more people than BDSC was.  Maybe 6,000 more than it is now for volleyball - but that is a whole different animal and an apples to oranges comparison.

Stand corrected...its about 1500. Don't know why I was thinking the place was bigger than that. Guess I don't know what they did at the arena to make the top so far away. It should be a lot closer to the Bob with that being the case.

Seats are in the second row of the 300 level... and they are obstructed view because of the railings...if I was 2 rows higher it would be fine, but looks like my best view of the game will be watching on the big screen

I'll be coming to Lincoln to watch the women's game Friday and was wondering if I should park across from memorial stadium in that parking garage. Any help or ideas would be great.

The Baseball parking lot costs $5 bucks... you just cross the bridge and you're there

Our concessions experiences were so bad I have considered writing to the powers that be at PBA.  But I will give them one more game.  I mean they were TERRIBLE.  Horrible.  Unacceptable.  But maybe it was their exhibition game too?

This new place at first glance doesn't seem to have the charm of the deveany but we will see.

What is up with the $26 buffet?  $26 seems a little pricey.

The baseball lot would probably be the easiest place to park...you can zip in and out pretty easily I imagine.  I'd recommend this if you want minimal hassle.

If you we're going to be there earlier or planned on staying downtown after the game, I'd recommend trying the Red 1 garage across from the arena, which should run you $5 as well I believe.

To access take in West O until you get to 9th street.  Take a right onto 9th and then take an immediate right onto N St going back west.  You can then follow this loop around until you hit the garage...can't miss it.

Same price that they charge in the Club Seating Lounge before concerts.  And yes, for a fairly small, plastic plate to take through the buffet, it's pretty pricey.

The Red 1 parking garage is a little more expensive, they charge $8 a car for womens games, $10 for mens games.

Thanks for the info, I'll update my map.

I guess the problem I see is that I fear PBA will be even quieter than Devaney.  With more room, more space, you have to have more noise to fill it.  I can't hear the student section.  I can't hear the cheerleaders.

If the idea was to replace Devaney, then not so much.  The basketball seating capacity of PBA is 14,970.1  The basketball seating capacity of the Bob Devaney Sports Center was 13,559.2  That's a difference of fewer than 1,500 seats.

These seem to be conflicting gripes.

Not sure how.  The place is ginormous but you've only added fewer than 1,500 extra chairs.  Ain't enough extra voices to fill the empty space.  It starts out with everything being pushed far away from the court.

So, they could afford to upgrade to Terrazzo tile on the premium floor but they couldn't afford Plexiglas railing things for the 200 and 300 level seats, huh?  Niiiiiiice.

And leonidas, I keep bringing up "intimate" about the PBA because people keep saying it is when it's not.  So, if people stop calling the PBA "intimate" I'll quit making fun of them for it.

And NUdiehard, can you help me out here?  You keep quotes.  Can you find all the places where Marc Boehm was quoted  in the paper saying this was going to be designed with basketball in mind?

I guess the problem I see is that I fear PBA will be even quieter than Devaney.  With more room, more space, you have to have more noise to fill it.  I can't hear the student section.  I can't hear the cheerleaders.

And one final item.  If the idea of building the PBA was to replace Pershing, then fabulous success.  Several times the seating capacity of Pershing in a gleaming, new arena.  If the idea was to replace Devaney, then not so much.  The basketball seating capacity of PBA is 14,970.1  The basketball seating capacity of the Bob Devaney Sports Center was 13,559.2  That's a difference of fewer than 1,500 seats.

So, we're spending $179,000,000.00 to get fewer than 1,500 more seats?  Quick, how much is that per seat?  Oh, we also get the luxury box level, which holds something like 500 people.  So, there is that.

Regarding Boehm's quotes, again, compared to other large arenas, this is more basketball-centric than others.  He's spot on in that regard.  He's not comparing the PBA to a high school gym, he's not comparing it to the Devaney, he's comparing it to the Century Link's of the world.

As someone else pointed out, the PBA is not just a basketball arena.  Everyone needs to understand that.  When it comes to large arenas, it is more basketball-centric, though.  If you want to keep comparing it to the Devaney, then feel free to keep complaining.  Did you seriously expect the PBA was going to be like the Devaney????

Can someone who knows how to post photos please post some photos of Mizzou Arena?  It was built less than 10 years ago, holds more than 15,000 people (so, like, 100,000 teeth) , and the seats go right about up to the playing surface similar to what we had at Devaney.  Is there some reason you can't have concerts in a place like that?

Are you sure you can buy a spot in the Red 1 garage for men's games - I thought that was season permit parking only.

Pretty sure you're correct, BB.  Red 1 is donor priority parking.

We are in the red parking garage and it was stupid trying to get out. They collect your parking ticket when you leave which completely slows down the flow of traffic. And is completely unnecessary. Open the gates and let them go!

I have a monthly pass so I park there as well.  I'm hoping this is some accounting thing that they're going to figure out real quick.

ok...now I'm a bit disappointed in the arena. The reason I thought it was so high in seat numbers was because I thought this is supposed to be equal to or better than the Centrylink in Omaha. I see that they seat over 18,000 for basketball...while we seat 14970. So in the grand picture...we still have a little arena. I guess we should be glad we don't have one that is equal to the CentryLink as you'd need a telescope to see the court from the upper rows instead of binoculars.

Centurylink was built just like PBA. They left the one end open just like PBA is now, and later filled it in with 3,000 or so more seats. We could end up with that later.

They do that for concerts also - you have a pass and they take that and give you a ticket and they you have to give them a ticket when you leave.  Not a very efficient system but at least they are not collecting money and making change.   Only reason I can think that they might do this is to catch people who might have parked there early in the day and then tried to stay for the event ?

Nighthawk, you are correct.  Our upper bowl (300 level) is closer than CLink's equivalent seating.  I have a schematic I'll try to get e-mailed to 49r so he can post it that will show a comparison of the 3 venues, Devaney, CLink and PBA.
