i can't confirm it...but since that lot was one of the choices that we were given to park when my dad ordered his tickets...I would think so.

Just pulled this up on line http://www.pinnaclebankarena.com/visit/

I don't see lot 21 but 19 and 20 are $5 each.

On the maps they sent out, 19 is behind right field of the baseball park (closer to the bridge), 20 is behind first base of the baseball park and 21 is to the north and west of the softball complex/behind the outfield and 3rd base line, which would be the farthest from the pedestrian bridge.

The "festival lot" is a new lot and it's to the south of all of these lots, so it's the closest to the bridge.

The info that was sent out marked all of these parking areas but did not list a price, so thanks for the info.

Can you park in the festival parking lot if you don't have a pass? If you don't need a pass how much do they charge?

The festival lot is run by SMG and you don't need a pass. The info I saw said event parking for the festival lot runs from $3 to $10 depending on the event. I think I remember reading in that insert magazine that came in the paper a couple months ago that it was going to be $5 for basketball but who knows if that was accurate or if that has changed.

Given it was $4 at the Devaney, $5 seems like something that would be charged this year.

I contacted SMG and they confirmed that the lot is open to the public and costs $10 per game.

Which lot are you talking about that cost $10 as person?  The 3 lots on the link all show $5.  I want to make sure I avoid the $10 lot as that is crazy expensive to park for a game.

Yes let us know. That sounds backward to me. Should be only $5 for the basketball fans that come 17 times a year. They really need to stick it to the concert goers. I would even expect to pay more than $10 for a one-time concert.

Nighthawk:

19 and 20 were not booster parking choices.  Those choices were the Deck 1 garage just south of the arena, the garage next to Embassy Suites (south of Journal Star building), the garage by the football stadium and surfact lots 7 and 18 which are on the south side of the original Haymarket Park bridge (north of the post office and the INS building).  Those lots will all be permit only for boosters who ordered spaces with their tickets.   I was told they allocated out all of those spaces with season ticket holder permits for Men's basketball.

Also - apparently from the other post they were letting people pay to get into the garage south of the arena for the women's game.  That is different from the men's game parking and it would slow things down a little getting in if some people have to pay vs. just handing them your pass.   Should be the same deal getting out though.  I parked in that garage for both Michael Buble and the Eagles and for both of the those the time to exit was not as bad as I expected.

Next - the link that is posted is for parking for the Pink concert when it says the festival and Haymarket lots (19 & 20) are $5.  I know the city was selling reserved spots for basketball in the festival lot for $160 which is about $10 per game.  There is an extra benefit to having a reserved spot - but that tells me that those lots might be priced at $10 for basketball.  (If someone parks there tonight please let us know what it costs and if it is different for the Haymarket lots vs the festival lot)

I know people complained about parking at Devaney - but at least at first the Arena has the potential to be much worse.   Time will tell but certainly there will be an adjustment period until people figure out where they are going and the best way to get there.  It should not be cold tonight but those Haymarket Park lots are a pretty long walk across that bridge - or it will seem like a long exposed walk when it is really cold.  Plus all of the baseball lots and the new festival lot will enter and exit from one place onto Sun Valley (unless they open up Charleston which is always closed for baseball games).  I would expect long lines on Sun Valley tonight from people trying to get into those lots. I remember the first Saltdogs baseball game at Haymarket - the line of cars on Sun Valley was backed up all the way to O Street - and that was dealing with alot fewer people and cars than will pass through that entrance now. But, eventually people did a better job of figuring out where they had to go.  It will be interesting to me to know how well that Haymarket Park area traffic flows in and out tonight.

For Saltdogs and Huskers baseball/softball, the parking folks actually do a pretty good job now - years of practice I guess.  ;)

Unless all of the lots are packed, which is rare for baseball, you can get out of there in 10-15 minutes easily, usually less. There will be an unknown factor with the addition of the festival lot, but as long as they have yellow coats directing the traffic out of there, it should go pretty smoothly. Line Drive is a two/three lane road that's the only way in and out, but with people directing the traffic it does go pretty fast. It will improve as the year goes on as drivers get used to the traffic flow, too.

Another unknown will be how & where they collect the parking fee. Since they don't charge for baseball parking, the traffic moves pretty fast into the lots, but it will slow down for hoops as they're collecting money.

I seem to remember they built almost 2000 spots for vehicles in the original three lots & probably another 400-500 in the new festival lot. I'd be surprised if they fill all of those spots for basketball, especially for the first part of the season - I think most people will be wanting to park downtown & see all of the new restaurants, construction, etc.

Now if they try to use a different parking crew than is used for baseball, it could get a little hairy the first several times until they get the traffic flow figured out. And if they for some reason have no yellow coats on site to direct vehicles for after the game, it'll get congested fast and probably take twice as long to get out. If they're going to charge $5 or $10 to park there, I have to imagine they'll have people directing traffic out of the lots after the game, but who knows.

Lots of unknowns.

There are definitely some legitimate concerns with parking down at the new arena. I have faith that some of the kinks will get worked out as people adjust, figure out what to do, and know what to expect. The expectations part is the biggest part. This new arena is a billion times better than Devaney. With the location of the new place, some parking mess was to be expected. Devaney sucked for parking anytime there was over 8,000 at the game. Walking from the further regions of the big grandstand lot at old state fair park wasn't fun on some of those big crowd nights. What should be understood about parking at PBA is that every spot is fairly close to the arena, which I guess is part of the problem. But people just need to understand that it's going to take just a bit longer to get to these closer spots. Just for fun I did some distances. At Devaney, if you walked from the back of the grandstand lot, I'm talking back behind the old 4H building, not way out beyond that in the grass where I parked some nights when hockey was going on plus a large bball crowd was expected, you walked .55 miles. This is in a straight line which you couldn't do before they took down all the old fair buildings in the way. For comparison, if you plan to park in the festival space, it's only .35 miles from that lot, across the pedestrian bridge, and to the arena. I traced the entire sidewalk they have out of that lot and across the bridge. It seems like a long ways but it's actually closer than some of the old Devaney options.

Lots 19, 20, and 21 (baseball lots) have 1650 stalls. The festival space has another 1300 stalls.

Permit lots 7 and 18, red 1 garage, attached VIP garage total 2,233 stalls.

Lumberworks garage (Canopy & O, still only 3 blocks away) 500 stalls. Is this one close to being done?

That's 5683 stalls plus other downtown options. Plenty of spots everyone just needs to find them and most efficient way for them!

I'm sure it will be a lot better next year when they finally have all the parking garages open. Kind of sill that they didn't have them done prior to the arena getting started....oh well.

Thanks for the info - 1300 stalls in the festival lot! That's a huge lot. That will change the traffic flow coming out of the baseball complex quite a bit.

Double confirmation: It is in fact $10 for the Festival Lot

Seems like you're best bet for fast in and out will be up north of the arena in one of the lots though you'll walk about the same amount of distance as it would be to the farther parts of North of Devaney or west across 14th St.

If you're into a possible Bermuda Triangle of traffic but want to walk the shortest distance, a garage in the Haymarket is your best bet.

Meters are free after 6pm downtown M-S and are free on Sundays.

Lumberworks garage is not open yet - probably will be by later in the year.   Does your permit lot figure include the garages by the football stadium (above the ticket office) and the one by the Embassy Suites?  Those are also permit parking from UNL.

If they fill up all the Haymarket Park parking - including the lot north of the softball field there are people walking a long ways to the game - and that is a ton of cars to get out of that one exit.  Curious if those original baseball lots (19, 20, & 21) will also be $10 or if that is just for the festival lot.

If you end up with a crowd of 15,000 - that is probably going to be over 7,000 cars, especially if you include spots for arena workers and workers in the area around the arena.   Your figure is still a ways from 7,000 stalls.  But, there are some other spots - the garage across from Barry's for one - and the emply lots north of the Journal Star building will be used also on a pay by game basis.   I would not plan on finding any meter parking anywhere very close to the arena - that was virtually impossible in the Haymarket area before anyone even thought of putting an arena there.

This.

Relying so heavily on garage parking for arena events was a horrible idea IMO.

I'm interested in hearing how it turns out for everyone.  Keep us posted.

I would guess quite a bit less than 8,000.

People at the women's game have been guessing way low.  The sides hold a lot of people.  It was at least 8000.

Edit:  I predict it was 7804.....
