I think Elbert is going to make the best decision for him whether he comes here or not. We are obviously lacking a huge presence inside, and Elbert is about as big of a presence as you can get. I think Elbert is smart enough to realize that Miles can put quality players around him and will have a chance to make history at Nebraska. Quote

a0t0w0 Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 Hope Elbert can see past the empty million dollar promises. Ridiculous. If he has NBA talent or potential someone will notice. Especially since we're in the B1G. Development is a good argument, but it's not uncommon for unpolished players to get drafted. Quote

Especially since we're in the B1G. Development is a good argument, but it's not uncommon for unpolished players to get drafted. Lets be honest. If things go right for Elbert, he's going to play in the NBA. He's one of a dying breed--the true center. He will get a chance on an NBA roster on size and athleticism alone. He's as close to a shoe-in for the league as you can get if he's able to avoid major injury, participate in a collegiate strength and conditioning program, and develop his game some along the way. He can do that anywhere. Do you guys think it matters that Georgetown is "Big Man U"? Sure they have a history of developing NBA big men. But a lot of that has to do with 1) getting those top caliber bigs in the first place and 2) exposure. Big East exposure for those players on the east coast was huge. The Big East was the premier league for years. That's not true anymore and you can argue that a B1G player is going to have equal or greater exposure than a player in the new Big East. The focal point of all those big time programs on the east coast used to be the Big East with all programs competing in one league. Now the Big East is watered down and with Syracuse, Pitt going to the ACC, the attention of that region is divided. Norm Peterson and Silverbacked1 2 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 What he needs is minutes against elite teams. At Nebraska, he'll play early and often. And few things could top the attention he'd receive by leading a previously moribund program like Nebraska into the ranks of the elite. If the kid wants to turn the heads of NBA scouts, that's the way to do it. Quote

Ohio State has had as good of a run on big men lately. About the same if not better than G-Town during the last few years. Therefore I will be more worried about his trip to OSU than the trip he already took to G-Town. Quote

Elbert could just cancel and commit to us! The AAU coach had no kind words about the OSU visit even saying, "It's going to be hard to deal with" and "I'm not looking forward to that". Quote

Norm Peterson Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 I was watching some tape on Elbert Robinson and video of Myles Turner popped up afterward, you know how it does that on Youtube? Anyway, I have to be honest. I was surprised that Myles Turner is ranked in the top 10 nationally overall. Clearly the kid has potential. I mean, he's an athletic 7 footer. But he does not look to me like a one-and-done player. He has some skills but he lacks polish. He's a good shooter but he's a little uncoordinated otherwise. Gangly. I'll agree he has a very high ceiling. But I think he's going to need to develop. As a center, I think Elbert is better. JMOO. Quote

TheKamdyMan Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Not quite sure what he means? His final schools? he will be putting out a list of his final schools. My guess is GU could be out as well as TAMU after not taking his visit last week. Could be a 3 horse race with GT and OSU and even then his AAU coach when asked about the OSU visit said hes not sure yet. Could be a storm a brewing. trickey 1 Quote
ajb5856 Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 He needs to put out a list of 1: Nebraska. We already had his final 4 a couple weeks ago that included Nebraska, Ga Tech, Georgetown, and Ohio State. But I guess that was his AAU coach speaking. Maybe we get to hear the options straight from the horses mouth. I don't really see the point of him releasing a list if this was just as simple as eliminating a team from contention. I'm kind of nervous who might be on this list. Has another team jumped into the running? He talked about possibly adding a 5th visit after he got done with Ohio State and Georgetown. Has a homestate school joined the race? SMU? Hopefully he gives a list of 1 on Thursday and hopefully its the right one. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 It won't be a list (unless a list can be just one team.) He's going to commit. To us. That's my guess. Quote
