Norm Peterson Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 Rodman averaged 25 and 15 in college, albeit NAIA. That probably translates to 15 and 10 in D1. Morrow's highlights are largely big finishes, putbacks, blocked shots, and hustle plays. He's not a great ball handler. I'm guessing he can guard 3-5. I saw maybe one or two post up highlights and like one jumper. I think he's a scrapper all the way, but to an extreme, point-producing level. I don't see Morrow ever evolving into a Barkley-type talent because of his offensive limitations. But to watch his film and think he could be the next Rodman is kind of a crazy revelation to speak out loud. I'm excited as well. Go back and watch the game from last year where Morrow played against Okafor. He hit a couple threes and made numerous mid range jump shots. I was surprised how well he shot in that game. I think he scored 22. I agree with M&R and disagree with LK1. I see Ed being more offensively able than what LK1 seems to imply. I wouldn't say that he's some offensive powerhouse like Terran Petteway, sort of a go-to player on offense. Yeah, primarily he'll get his points on rebound put-backs or finishing in transition. But he's also capable of taking his defender off the dribble from time to time and he's not totally inept as a shooter, either. So, he could get some points in 2-man game with the pick and pop or the pick and roll. My guess is he'll be better at the pick and roll than just about anyone we have right now, if we try to run pick and roll action, just because I think he has better hands than Moses and he's more mobile than Leslie and just a more aggressive inside player than either David or Walter. Yeah, maybe most of his points will be garbage points, but those are points we presently don't get much of. Quote
GATA Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 I see a lot of Nigel Hayes in Morrow. He isn't as refined as Hayes, but he projects to be a better rebounder. Quote
throwback Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 I see a lot of Nigel Hayes in Morrow. He isn't as refined as Hayes, but he projects to be a better rebounder. Yes. I'd take that. I love watching Hayes ... and wish we had a guy like him every time I see Wisky play. Quote
Section_316 Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 Hayes can stroke it.. Not sure we are getting a perimeter threat like that? Hayes reminds me so much of Harrison Barnes.. I see Morrow more in the mold of a +++ David Rivers. Quote
AuroranHusker Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 If Nigel Hayes were on this Nebraska team, they'd be much, much better. So if Ed Morrow Jr. can have an impact like a NH had for Wisky last yr, I'd take it in a heartbeat. throwback 1 Quote

bobcat402 Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 the one guy they talked about Rico Gathers from Baylor just screams NFL Tight End.. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 Nebraska basketball signee Ed Morrow picked up a big honor this week, being named to the first-team All-City team by the Chicago Sun Times. Four of the five players named to the All-City team have signed to play Division I basketball next season. The 6-foot-7 Morrow, who plays for Simeon High School, has an important game this weekend, as Simeon meets Stevenson, a matchup of the top two teams in the Chicago area. Simeon's roster features three players who will be playing major D-I basketball next year -- Morrow (Nebraska), D.J. Williams (Illinois) and Isaiah Moss (Iowa). Quote
Huskerpapa Posted March 18, 2015 Report Posted March 18, 2015 Doesn't appear that Edward had his best game...Simeon was upset and ousted. http://www.pantagraph.com/sports/high-school/basketball/boys/state-bound-nchs-stuns-no-simeon/article_55165bc7-2209-5e01-98b5-55450d3934e4.html Quote

gobigredbrah Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 Norvell (on the right) is 6'4 which means Ed Morrow is a little over 6'5 Quote
Swan88 Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 Hey, we haven't had a 6'5" post player since Ade Dagunduro. And he was a pretty good one at that. And Morrow is a heck of a good dunker and shot blocker at 6'5". Imagine what he could do if he were 6'8 as advertised. Quote
bleujay Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 I see a lot of Carl Hall in his game Quote
Bugeaters1 Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) Norvell (on the right) is 6'4 which means Ed Morrow is a little over 6'5 Edited March 29, 2015 by Bugeaters1 Quote
Bugeaters1 Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 Maybe his knees are bent the wrong way. I'm having trouble with quote feature in here, so im sorry for the double posts. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 Norvell (on the right) is 6'4 which means Ed Morrow is a little over 6'5 Srsly? You think you can tell how tall Ed Morrow is from a camera shot of him standing next to a guy you think is 6'4"? Ed said some time ago (someone find the quote?) that he stands 6' 6 1/2" or 6'7" in stocking feet and still growing. Looks like Morrow's shoulder height is a good 2-3 inches taller than the Norvell kid. Quote
busticket Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 I don't care if Ed's real height is 6'3" in socks....the kid effortlessly plays above the rim. He looks pretty ridiculous (in a good way) in his clips. The kid is simply an animal in the paint. I can't see how he doesn't start from day 1, or at absolute worst logs 20 minutes per game. We have nobody that has his skill set on the roster as of today. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted March 30, 2015 Report Posted March 30, 2015 All-State First team baby. Stud is now spelled M-O-R-R-O-W Ed Morrow High school: Simeon Class: Senior College: Nebraska Position: Forward Height: 6-7 Team highlights: Not winning state is a disappointment by Simeon standards, but the Wolverines did beat state-champion Stevenson 66-55 in the City-Suburban Showdown on Feb. 21 and swept city champion Bogan and Morgan Park in Red-South play to win the conference. They also won the Pontiac Holiday Tournament and went 28-4 despite a difficult schedule that included several out-of-state teams. Individual highlights: As fast, strong and athletic as any big man in the state, he was MVP at Penny Hardaway tournaments in Memphis and Tampa and dominated Pontiac. He averaged 17 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots. FYI: Simeon's best player two years running and a major contributor for three, Morrow did not enter the renowned program with a big reputation like many of his teammates. He leaves the program as the No. 51-ranked recruit nationally by ESPN.com. Repeated: "He has worked for everything he has. He came into the program and people didn't know who he was. Now he's ranked 51 by ESPN. I'm so proud of him." — Simeon coach Robert Smith http://my.chicagotribune.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-83171232/ Quote
Swan88 Posted March 30, 2015 Report Posted March 30, 2015 Here ya go Norm: Regarding Ed's height, Brian Rosenthall reported back on May 31, 2014: "Morrow, who recently turned 17, said he’s still growing, that he’s gone from 6-foot-6 at the start of last season, to his current 6-7½. Both measurements, he said, are without shoes." Red Don and Norm Peterson 2 Quote
