TheKamdyMan Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 Same happens to at least 2-3 football players every year and they make it. I think this is finally the year things go right for the hoops squad. Norm Peterson 1 Quote

kldm64 Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 I was pretty concerned about the Webster comment as well. Hopefully is will all ends well. One comment Miles made though, cracked me up. He was asked if he will have Coach Hunter game plan for Florida Gulf Coast. Miles replies without hesitation and says "why would I, they lost". Nebrasketballer and Norm Peterson 2 Quote

Silverbacked1 Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 If he doesn't qualify he is young so maybe a year at Prep school is in order. Just a thought. Norm Peterson 1 Quote

I think Kamdy made some comment some time ago about not being able reclassify anymore. In other words, once you've declared your graduating class, that's it and you can't change it. Which means his clock starts running, I take it? Kamdy would be the guy to ask but I'm pretty sure he said that wouldn't be possible. Quote

This previous year would've been the last year for anyone to reclassify, hence Tory Miller doing so. Up until 2016 players that dont make the grade either have to continue to do the Baylon Heard/Antonio Bell method of testing until you get it right or go to a Juco. In 2016 you can take an academic redshirt year, and assuming you make the grades will then have 4 years to play 4. Now I have no idea if reclassification applies to any foreign players so this may not even apply to Tai. Norm Peterson 1 Quote

Said he's concerned, not panicking yet, but he is concerned. Discuss. Go. It seems as though we had quite a bit of positive "ready to go" info for Tai being here by July 1. Does anyone have any knowledge of what the eligibility concerns are????? It would be good if we knew what is being dealt with and the potential for success/ failure of getting him on board -- I believe this is a really big impact on our recruiting class. Quote

Nebrasketballer Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 LINCOLN — The word to describe Nebraska basketball recruit Tai Webster's status for the coming season, Husker coach Tim Miles repeated Thursday, is “unclear.'' The 6-foot-3 freshman guard from New Zealand still hasn't gained NCAA eligibility, which is obtained through a combination of high school grade average and college entrance exam scores. “That's why he's not here,'' Miles said. “There are two more test scores he has completed in the past 10 days. We are waiting on those scores. “He's close. But he's not there.'' Miles said no date for Webster's arrival in the United States has been set, which is contrary to various tweets and speculation. Miles also used the word “unclear'' last week in a World-Herald interview while discussing Webster's status. Nebraska had hoped Webster would arrive in time for the second session of summer school, which starts July 15. That is still possible. The key date after that is Aug. 26 — the start of the 2013-14 school year. Webster's lingering eligibility issues potentially bring into play a delayed enrollment or time at a prep school, sources with knowledge of his situation said. Norm Peterson 1 Quote
FredsSlacks Posted June 13, 2013 Author Report Posted June 13, 2013 I have a felling Tai isn't going to make it. Tai signed with NU over 7 months ago. If he hasn't gotten the score by now, I doubt things are going to change in the next month. If we lose Tai and strike out in the 2014 class, Miles approval rating is going to plummet fast. bobcat402 and seaofred92 1 1 Quote
49r Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 Kudos to Lee for bringing more light to the situation. I had heard Robin say something similar on one of the radio shows yesterday or the day before. Seems to me more like a Diaz-type situation than anything. IOW, it may take some time...but one way or another, eventually Tai will be a Husker. Quote

All tim can do is go out and compete for the best players and athlete's like he is doing now, plus the real class that we need some big time players is 2015. Quote

I'm not saying it would be miles fault if Tai doesn't make it, but our 2013 class is going to be very average without Tai. I'm not sure I understand your logic of 2015 being a more important class than 2014. We have no true post threat, and without Tai there would be no dynamic guards. Quote
