I am not sure where we would find the scholie at this point.  He certainly is a quality player when motivated to play.

We still have 2 scholarships available...

With offers to three big men.  We could certainly withdraw one or more of them, but that is a bit premature given the kid is not even released from Texas yet, and we do not know if there are restrictions on his release.  We also have no clue as to his level of interest.  Lastly, we seem to have more need in the front court then in the back court.  He would have to sit out a year.

Again, he is a quality player...when motivated to play.  In my eyes he must have displayed some pretty bad behaivior for Barnes to sit him like he did.

Excuse my ignorance, what is his link to Nebraska?

Well you'd imagine he'd want to go to a power conference, not in the Big 12, and we have transfers from Texas Tech and Florida sitting on our bench with no links to Nebraska. So it's just a topic on a message board about a player that would be nice to have.

Fair enough.  Having seen the topic, I wondered if maybe there was some sort of past history, ties to the state or if Miles had recruited him previously.

When I first read Sheldon, my mind went right to Jeter... still the kid looks pretty good when motivated.  We need Bigs though.

We just need ballers!

Yes I realize that, but when push comes to shove, ballers are going to have a hard time guarding someone who is 6'10 and 250.  I say if we get Atewe and Sai and there is no room, well it happens.  If for some reason we lose out on either of those two, I would take this guy over Leslee, but thats just me.

I'm not saying take this guy over the big guys we have offers to. I'm saying take this guy if he wants to come here and encourage somebody who probably won't play a lot here ever again to move on.

Wasn't suggesting we should offer him or pull an offer, just that we have 2 open scholarships. No guarantees in place with offers. So if finding a scholarship was the only issue, we could get by it.

I watched UT all season.  McClellan is spectacular at times and at times disappeared, especially on the defensive end of the court.  That doesn't sit well with Barnes.  I personally admire Barnes for sticking to his expectations and he is heavily criticized by the Austin press for bencing McClellan for long stretches.  Coaches run their programs, or should, at all levels and if players don't do what the coaches want they should sit...or look elsewhere.

With all of the above being sad, McClellan could be a nice addition.  I look for him to wind up at Houston.

Barnes jerked his chain around. Kid was probably the most talented player on that team, and Barnes would sit him for long periods of time. Texas would be better of if McClellan stuck around and Barnes hit the road.

I personally preferred Myck Kabongo.  Kid played hard at both ends and even after sitting part of the year due to NCAA stuff he came out the gates on fire and lead the team in scoring.
