I don’t see it, fell out of of izzos rotation basically at the end of the year.  Feels like more of a 5 than a 4 too that doesn’t wow you.  We need a 6’9” guy that runs the floor and can move his feet as the other option at the 4 imo

Falling out of Izzo’s rotation is relative.  Sparty is pretty loaded in the front court. We saw firsthand that he was significantly better than any big guy that we had this year.   He would be our second best big guy next year on our roster.

Will he want to go from an NCAA Elite 8 team back-up to a Crown Elite 8 team back-up though?

This season it was 6.6 per 40 minutes.  Dominant rebounded and shot blocker for sure, it was night and day for us when he wasn't on the court. We'll see if we gave him an extra long handshake after the game.

Agreed, it was definitely a different game when he was on the bench.

Shocker (not Wichita State)

He was great at Wisconsin.   Not sure why he had trouble getting on the court at Kansas.   Maybe an attitude problem - but if not I would take him based on what he did at Wisconsin.

Does the transfer portal officially close on April 22nd, meaning we need to have our new roster mostly set by then?  I am just seeing other teams pick up some steam the last couple of days with some of the top portal guys and we have yet to get anyone officially.  I'm sure some of it has do to with us being in the CBC right now and not being able to get guys on campus, etc., but I was just curious.

That is simply a window for when players can enter the portal.  They can still transfer after that window closes if entered portal during window.

I've heard Fred say numerous times that we do not want to pick up players with attitude issues.  The other day I heard the new Iowa coach say something similar.  He indicated first and foremost, he is looking for players that can play.  But he would pass on any player with a "me first" attitude or lost interest if he was having a bad game or practice (I am paraphrasing).  But I think many coaches think that way.

Yet, in today's age, aren't most players and their handlers, "me first".  They demand dollars, they demand playing time, they require X amount of touches or shots each game.  Hey, if I'm not starting, I'm departing?

What can a middling program like ours, do?  Crap, every program wants the uber talented, excellent scholar, great citizen kid.

Tell me PLEASE, how do we get those kids here?

I've heard that restaurants can offer great food, cheap food and great/fast service.  Unfortunately, most, if not all those restaurants can only succeed with two out of three.

I feel like we have to evaluate what we are willing to do to secure a championship team.  I personally love high energy kids.  But how do you get and keep kids that have the high energy and elite basketball talent?

That's just the deadline for players to jump into the portal; not the deadline for them to jump out. I think. Could be wrong. Don't quote me.

Painting with a broad brush. That’s like saying anyone seeking a new job is selfish. There are many factors that would cause a kid to enter the portal. Sure fair compensation and playing time are two. Some the coach who recruited them left. Some don’t mesh with the place they originally committed to. Some want to be closer to home. Some want to experience a new part of the country. Some want to grow as a player. Some have pro aspirations. Plenty of talented, hard working guys in the portal that would mesh perfectly at Nebraska. Off the top of my head Brice, Juwan and Keisei started their careers elsewhere - that was a talented, hardworking nucleus that won a lot of games.

We need to get someone soon imo.  Easier to get others once have the first one.  Overspend a touch if need be.

Better to overspend on a good player now, that overspend on a bad player later.
