Hoo boy it's been a good couple of weeks for the Big Ten!  We have 10 teams inside the KenPom top 40, and 6 in the top 25.  Q1 opportunities will abound in conference play.  Also check out the field in the Diamond Head Classic, that lineup is starting to look sneaky dangerous.  2-1 out there should be goal with 3-0 a possibility.  Gonna be a quick update this morning, so...Here we go!

 Plan B: UTRGV

Could be a good and bad thing for them, but they are done with their power conference teams now too. Their December starts conference play with Stephen F Austin and Lamar, they play N New Mexico and Southern Utah and then wrap the month with Biblical Studies and Dallas Christian.

Any loss will definitely drop them, but I don’t see a ton of losses left out there.

I am mostly joking as I don't expect UTRGV to end above a q3 win

Same— but starting that high, should they run the table (or close to it) with some big blowouts, could keep them up there a little bit.

Also was trying to point out that they really can’t afford any more losses to stay where they are.  Every loss now is a “bad” or “badish” loss.

Margin of victory seems to matter a whole lot. Penn State's NET is 34. Their SOS is atrocious. 6 of their 7 wins are Q4, their other win is Q3.  0-1 against Q1/2. But they are blowing out those Q4 teams.

This is why NET is considered a predictive metric and is not supposed to be looked at by the committee when evaluating resumes. Every other metric for Penn State is horrible.

Scoring margin was excluded from NET as of May 2020. I haven't looked at their stats yet, but it's likely the "efficiency" metrics that are boosting their NET.

Covering the spread and taking care of business against the 200-300 level teams boosts that NET rating.

First NET rankings of the year are out and Nebraska comes in at 44. Our first ranking last year was 76.  Creighton is 99. Not close to a quad 1 win as of now. We kinda really need them to beat Kansas on Wednesday.

Is there anything else they can do besides that?

Volunteer hours at the soup kitchen, perhaps?

Creighton jumped up to #75 in the NET.  That pushed us from 43 to 35!

Okay...now you've got my attention.
