So many conflicting reports about our Men's Basketball $$$.

Anybody truly know what our player budget is and exactly where it rates with others?  Likely some of our red $ is given to the blue $ for basketball.   If so, another major reason to hate on Jayskers.

Where is the conflict?  We have seen multiple reports that NU is lacking in the hoops NIL arena.  Show me one credible report that says NU hoops is in the upper echelon of NIL payments.  I'll wait.  Until I see it, I don't see a conflict.

I’m kinda of tired of just taking this argument that “we aren’t paying enough” as cold hard fact. Just kinda seems to be the go-to excuse.

Could change it up by wondering if the amount we offered wasn't aggressive because we're talking about paying for a guy to transition from Juco to D-1.

I've read one very reliable source, on this site, State that our NIL bank is sufficient.   I will do additional research.

I will say it's not the case for most of the players we miss on. Several other factors. But it has been the case for a handful.

I don't know if Bashir would've been a Husker with more money, but after the NIL discussions on his visit, he was no longer interested.

It IS the excuse for every football transfer we miss out on. Husker fans can't fathom a player wanting to go play for Ohio State instead of Nebraska.

Regarding Bashir, personally I'd prefer they spend that NIL money on a blue-chip point guard from the portal. There will be other shooters out there as well.

I'm not trying to be combative - I'm honestly asking this - but can you provide credible reports saying we do lack in the hoops NIL area?

I just don't think that you're going to get any sort of publicly available figure because you're not going to get that from any school and thus it puts Nebraska at a competitive disadvantage to have that number out there. Seems pretty reasonable to me that we're in the middle to low end of the conference because you can start picking out the teams like Oregon, Michigan, Indiana, etc that plainly have money and you pick out teams like Minnesota, Penn St, Northwestern, Iowa that don't. Being in the middle or whatever doesn't mean there is a scale there....it's more like tiers of teams. We got Andrew Morgan because we're better off than Minnesota.  Seems like Wisconsin getting poached for Chucky probably has them in a similar tier as us but then they had the money to get Tonje to rip up his deal with New Mexico.  Sometimes your misfortune is your fortune.

Speaking of New Mexico,  you're not just recruiting against teams in your conference, you're recruiting against everyone (which is not a new development).  In some ways, recruiting is the exact same as it's always been except now we publicly talk about guys getting paid.  As always, even if you're in a pinch you can always have a guy and hit up a few people to see if you can bridge the gap.

To me if you really want to find out what's going on you need to be in that circle, or as with boat ownership, be someone who knows someone in that circle. Else the best you're likely to do is infer it from what is going on.

We hit the frickin' powerball jackpot of billionaire alumni. AND he wants to donate his massive fortune to charity instead of leaving it to his kids.

Sadly, his idea of "charity" is like feeding starving kids in Africa and bringing fresh drinking water to the third world or some crap like that, instead of endowing his alma mater with a war chest to bring elite talent into our athletic programs.

Sigh.

That rat bastard.
