This year's version of Michigan State could be as good as any Izzo has had. Purdue and Illinois will be just as good as they were last year.  Four through fourteen are up for grabs. Top to bottom, the Big Ten will likely be weaker this year than in the past several years.

What kind of floors me is Ohio St being picked 4th after having finished 13th and losing Bryce Sensabaugh to the NBA draft. I'm curious what their portal adds looked like that would make them a 2nd weekend NCAA tourney team after finishing with 5 conference the year before.

I'm not trying to put words in anybody's mouth here but to me, at least, last year was an outlier for OSU kind of in the same way that our top 4 finishes with Miles were outliers.  They were picked pretty high last year in preseason and got off to a strong start only to stumble when conference season began.

They ended up in the mid-40s on KenPom, but 361 on "luck," which means their numbers project to a much higher win total. The lost a lot of close games with a freshman point guard and went into the tank at one point, but they did finish strong. Zed Key and Battle (Minny transfer) are high level players and Thornton has a year of college ball under his belt. I could see a bounceback.

True; but it is also good to know what others think of our team and our program.  

Nobody will see us as a threat in the conference.  We can maybe win a few games solely because teams will look past us.  Bottom line, as mentioned we have the opportunity to earn respect, can we do it?

As a team we struggle rebounding, defending and have chemistry issues on offense.  

 

Now I'm back down to earth.  Go Big Red!

 

I thought I would revisit my possible portent of doom and destruction with this year's team.  Remember, I really liked this team coming into the season, but of course being a lifetime Husker hoops fan, I had to temper my excitement and expect the worst.

 

KT: Had a good year.  A little up and down but pretty much what we expected.

Coleman: Did struggle for what ever reason given his resume, but was certainly not a chemistry problem if fact just the opposite. (notice I had him starting)

Williams: Not even close on this one thankfully.  Was a great in game shooter and hit a number of key 3's this year.

Gary: Shoulder was fine, thankfully.

Mast: Did at times have issues defending but overall had a great year with a bit of a bum knee.

 

Lawrence: Did have a Soph slump partly from playing a new position but came on at the end of the year

Wilcher: It was a bit of the same old but he had a stretch where he was outstanding

Keita: Injuries kept him out but it didn't take Nostradamus to predict this one

Allick: Fit in very well as a P5 player

Rice: He did defend like a freshman but had some solid moments offensively

Lloyd: Void

Diop: Bingo

Hoiberg: Did not play like a normal walk on.  Didn't shoot it as well this year but still an important piece.

Jacobsen: Had the confidence of his coach to go in and defend when needed.

Ulis: Bingo and Nostradamus not needed on this either

 

We did struggle rebounding (big time in a few of our losses) but the chemistry seemed to be good all year.

Great summary, Navin.   For fun, I'll add this:  Jeffrey Grace was brought in a few times to be the designated fouler at the end of games, and he performed that role admirably.

So there you have it. Not only is Nebraska making the NCAA tournament for the first time in 10 years and the eight time ever, but we're winning some games when we get there. And it won't feel like a fluke. Buckle up.

Same feeling I had last April.... called 10-1 and 11-9 ahead of the year. Not too shabby. Well, I also called for a Keisei statue with Freddy & Sammy, but maybe that one's delayed. 2025 is OUR year! I can feel it!! Can you feel it?

Yup.  He seemed to play his a** off in games and to get those minutes he must do it in practice as well.  I just forgot about him to start the season.

Grace & Burt as well as Cale Jacobsen did what they had to do, same can said for schollie 6th-yr-dude Boogie, they all prepared the big boys for what they had to face. They did their roles well enough. No complaints.

 

Now, Ulis is another story... I hope you're dead wrong on Ahron. I imagine him being a key cog in 2024-25. I hope he didn't bet (under anybody's name, lol) -- and he is ready, willing, and able to take on a B1G role next season. I think he'll prove to be as good as his older bro, who carved out a smaller niche in the NBA. GBR Always.
