Excellent article.  For those that opined about his five game absence at the beginning of the season, the rumors are dispelled here.  

 

Heck of a man and player!  He has been a pleasure to watch and will be missed on multiple levels.

Amie Just did a great job on this lead article in the LJS. It shows Derrick, Fred, and the whole basketball program at NU are class acts. Kudos to everyone involved

Yeah, lots of opinions/rumors at the beginning of the year. Glad the real story came out and proud that he opened up about it. He didn’t have to, but he did. Mental health is no joke and it’s very real. Wish nothing but the best for him in his future

And, if haven't watched the media interview with Derrick Walker, Sam Griesel, and Emmanuel Bandoumel, go & watch it. That's the epitome of team-focused basketball. Those 3 are leaving their legacy as an imprint on the NU culture. Wish Sam & Manny could have been here for more than one year. Glad D-Walk came back & rehabbed himself well enough in time to make a big impact this year.

I had high hopes that the newcomers would help flip our culture but it has gone even better than I ever could have hoped for.  I think this is the kind of story Sam Griesel was hoping for in his one year here.  What a great group of seniors!
