Oh man, too bad. He looked like he could have been a pretty decent fit.

I am not sure what "plan" we are on. It appears that our plan, at least for now, is to bring a ton a kids in and hopefully sort some quality out of the quantity. Once Coach Miles settles in, I imagine our targets will be better defined. But that is just my humble opinion.

only if he doesnt want to play for the new coach or the new coach doesnt want him.  He signed his LOI so it would have to be mutual to be released.

His other two finalists were Tennessee and Auburn, don't think we would be his choice even if he did decide to leave Minnesota.

You don't think he would want to stay in the Big Ten with the success the conference has had during the season and in the NCAA Tourney?

You could very well be right, but I would think that Miles would give it another shot, especially since it doesn't seem like he is one of the recruits that won't give Nebrasketball a chance because of the Nebraska winter weather.  I mean if he was fine with Minnesota winter weather, then Nebraska would be a step in the warmer direction.  The other advantage I could see with Miles is that he has at least some sort of relationship already established with him, because he has recruited him.  The new Minnesota coach might not have been in contact with him at all.  So there's that I guess.

Also, since his other 2 finalists were Tennessee and Auburn, when Foster committed to Minnesota, I'm sure that Tennessee and Auburn continued recruiting other players on their list.  Do they even have a spot left for him?  Maybe there isn't a spot for him at those schools anymore.  I have no idea.  Just throwing that out there.

If we sign Atewe and Sai... we do not have a spot for him...

If they release him, it would probably only be with the stipulation that he not go to a rival Big 10 school.

And, since Auburn is still in it with Atewe, I'm guessing they still have a spot.

Of all the players named, I think I liked Vitto Brown the best, though.

I think we have already hashed that out.

It doesn't have to be mutual, does it? I thought the NCAA allows recruits out of LOIs if the coach goes elsewhere?

The school can let them if the kid wants out but they can put stipulations in place just like any other scholarship athlete.

No...the school usually agrees to the release in those cases but it's not an automatic thing

I hope we at least tell him the door is open and try to get him to visit.

I'm reading that pitino basically told foster that he did not see him being a major contributor.

I would think Foster would want to go to another B1G school, so he would get to play against pitino and minnesota every year.

Neb, Wisc, ill, purdue, northwestern are the other B1G teams that offered him.

This kid must have some game for half the B1G conference to offer him a scholarship.
