We really needed those two teams to go away. Marquette's schedule is very favorable for them down the stretch. Hopefully they lose @ St Johns. Quote
Chuck Taylor Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 That KSU game just floored me after Texas looked so great against OU on Saturday. I said I was going to just enjoy our season and quit scoreboard watching. Just like I was going to fix that gutter before the first snowfall. Silverbacked1 1 Quote
Tallbaby21 Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 Maybe we can hire some Russians to hack the RPI and make that Mississippi State game to count. Silverbacked1 and Bugeaters1 1 1 Quote

With the Big 12 being a league that is perceived as “up,” I am going to guess that probably all .500 teams get in and maybe even an 8-10 team depending on who it is. HolyBobpilgrimage 1 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 For the record, we lost to the St. John's team that beat #1 Villanova on the road, not the St. John's team that lost to DePaul at home. HolyBobpilgrimage and Nebrasketball1979 1 1 Quote

jimmykc Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 (edited) Just so I understand this right: St. John's beats Villanova and Duke but is still considered a very bad loss for us since they beat us badly on their home court on our first road game early in the year. I guess I understand this since they are such a terrible team. Maybe someone could explain it to Jay and Mike. Edited February 8, 2018 by jimmykc Mr. Red 1 Quote

But it's weird to me that a road win against a decent team actually moved us down his pecking order. I suppose he probably sees Minnesota as a worse team than I do. It really sucks knowing that our resume won't end up matching the quality of our team. The RPI won't be climbing much and we won't be adding any "quality" wins (at least on paper). These committee members really better be watching us every game down the stretch. We deserve to get a shot in the tournament. royalfan 1 Quote

My opinion is that we would strongly want Az St. since they are more firmly in the field around an 8/9 seed where USC is on a lot of first four in/next four out lists. This would also be a huge Tier 1 road win for USC and with a loss, Az State won't slide out of most brackets. Just want to hear your thoughts as you typically have some differing takes. Quote

I was probably looking at the fact USC has played so much better in the league too much. You may well be correct. No strong feel from me in this instance. This one may be too early to tell as well. But, with 7-8 games left, you just never know. But, give UW, UCLA and USC more losses and I am good with that. rr52 and ShortDust 1 1 Quote

I don't know. I think you have a good point when it may be too early to tell. I think in the here an now we want Az St. However, they have been sliding and not playing good basketball. They have alternated wins and losses over their last 10 games. Their upcoming schedule is USC, UCLA, Arizona, @Oregon. With the way they are playing, its not inconceivable for them to lose all 4 of these games or three out of four, which likely slides them right onto the bubble. So, these debates and bubble games are fun as hell to watch and discuss but in reality Miss Cleo is dead and you can't predict how the rest of the season will play out. So someone we may want to win tonight, we may have the exact opposite mindset in a couple of weeks. Nebraska being relevant this year has turned me into a much bigger college hoops fan this season because I sure as hell wouldn't normally care who wins this game or Marist vs. Saint Peter on a random Thursday night!!!
