  2. Prediction: David Wacker will be a Husker and on scholarship this time next year. Speculation: Tim Miles & Co. are creatively managing the thirteen-scholarships and oversigning-by-one limitations to maximize this year's recruiting potential with Robinson, Deng, Bollen, etc., and Wacker is very much a central part of the plan. Rationale: 1. These coaches wouldn't waste an official visit and their first in-home visit on someone they believe is a marginal / slow-play guy; and 2. Wacker received strong interest from the likes of Colorado and others, yet he hasn't set up any visit to anywhere but Boise.

  3. First 5 to make free throws, next 5 take them on then winner stays on and a few group takes picks to see who is ready for the next game. Game to 15 by ones, 3 point shot counts 2. Call your own fouls, first group is shirts, next 5 are skins. Just like when we played as kids.

It is over the top, Norm. For no other reason than Tai is NO Shavon Shields...I can guarantee you that!

  9. I just gotta say I want this kid. I want us to get this kid. He could be that "one player" we've always said is what it takes to turn a program around.

  10. That makes a ton of sense to me. Why would you use your very first in-home, on the first day that you can do an in-home, on a guy that is a back-up option? Just doesn't compute. Therefore, I'd say the guy is probably not a back-up option, but is a primary target. Oh no, Creighton Fan!!! How could you possibly do this to my argument? You've doomed it by agreeing with it!!! Sheesh [and "groan"]! P.S. I am typing this with a smile on my face and a chuckle in my head.

  11. Norm, three years ago we were giddy about David Rivers... I can definitively say I was not giddy about David Rivers 3 years ago and I am not particularly excited about Wacker today. Looks like another Doc/Collier type recruite to me, but hey, that is just my opinion based on limited info and I could be completely wrong. But there is no doubt in my mind that Wacker is the backup plan. As Kamdy said, absolutely no way Miles encourages Wacker to take other visits if he is a Plan A guy. Miles certainly did NOT tell Hammond to take other visits and IIRC Hammond cancelled his other visits after visiting here and committing on the spot. Reading the tea leaves further, that fact that Wacker did not commit on the in-home visit yesterday tells me that this staff still thinks it has a chance to land Robinson. As Kamdy said, if Miles felt he had no chance with Robinson after his visit, then he opens up the sholly to Wacker. Since he didn't do that, I think it means they are holding on to it until Robinson makes his final decison Oh, and one more thing. I absolutely do not understand this notion of a "noncommittable offer". Isn't that an oxymoron? If the player can't accept it, then its not really an offer.

Creighton will continue to play good basketball. They tend to do well against Plainview, Crofton, Bloomfield, Pierce and a few other Northeast Nebraska teams. Apparently those of you on this board simply don't get it.

Honestly, I yet to hear any Creighton fan say such a thing, so I think your "feeling" is in error. Or just bad gas. I have heard some Creighton fans worry about being able to recruit consistently at the highest levels needed to compete for Big East titles regularly like we've done in the MVC, but I've never once heard a Creighton fan worry that Nebraska is going to pass them up. Enjoy this year... it will be the last competitive year Creighton has in quite a while. The days of winning against NU is about to be coming to an end. If you don't see it you're blind, and it's going to sting a whole lot more unless you accept it now. The days of playing in a chump league are over and after this year good luck staying in the top half.

  20. Plus, adidas seems to have some connection to TNGHT (the DJ duo behind "Higher Ground"). They've used two of their songs (in the ads below), so that should be enough of a stamp of approval. No? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gymy1-rl6UY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzry01QMRus

  21. Completely agree. The tradition is the players walking down the tunnel to some hype music, us watching it on the video boards, and them pouring out onto the field. I don't know why the song needs to stay affixed to that, and agree that it needs to continuously be updated (it should match the current team... maybe even chosen by them). I really don't want the basketball program to head into a new arena, pick some lame song, and stick to it for the next 20+ years. That would be unfortunate. You should've trusted your gut instinct on that one. Here are some other songs that would be similar/current... The college hipsters would probably say these two songs are played-out, as they've been featured on commercials and during other athletic events. But I would settle for either one of them. Besides the first one is called "Higher Ground" and if nothing else, it totally matches the mission of the program right now. And since they've appeared on national TV (Under Armour and Doritos commercials) maybe it won't be such a shock (to the upper age groups) when either of these come pumping out of the soundsystem before tipoff.

  23. Correct Norm, but if they could get a commitment from Kia Nurse I think they for sure make room. I actually think they've changed their focus more so now to the 2015 class. On paper the 2014 class is without a doubt turning out to be Yori's best class since she's been here. I'm still in shock that we went into enemy territory and got a commitment out of Kaylee Page. It just blows my mind that she picked us over Oklahoma St and KU. I can't ever remember the top high school player in the state of Kansas opting to "go north" so to speak for college. Nebraska is starting to develop a reputation of getting players who didn't have offers from the so called "big named" women's basketball schools and developing those players to get to the next level. When you can get the top player from Kansas and a few of the top players in California to commit it speaks volumes about what this program is doing and where it's going. I guess we could call this the "Lindsey Moore" class. The 2015 class to go along with Jess could actually be better than this years with the interest we're already starting to garner from top recruits nation wide. Hopefully our off season recruiting next season will be as fun and interesting to watch as this season's was.
