Tension was pretty high for both teams in the 4th. Indiana has some players who have a chip on their shoulder. Nice to see our girls keep their cool but also not back down. Starting to notice a trend with Amy Williams. Scoggin is sitting more and Weidner who is a better defender and ball handler is on the court with Jaz and Sam in the closing minutes of the 4th. With teams pressing us we need her skill set to manage it better.

I like Coach splitting the minutes. The one thing I question is timing of the substitutions.  I wish she would play the hot hand more.  She pulled Weidner early, when she had just rattled off 6 quick points. She hadn't been in long, didn't appear to be sucking wind.  Same thing late.  Sam went on a tear for a couple of minutes, and was substituted for. She did come back in shortly, and luckily still had her drive game going. Maybe she needed a blow?  Looked like she was on a roll.

In reality, nothing to whine about.  The girls played great.  Coaches had them ready to go.    Well done!!

Agree that playing Weidner with Sam and Jaz was effective.  I think you still start Scoggin because Weidner brings more explosiveness off the bench. Would like to see Porter gain some confidence as she has nice size to defend taller wings.

We defended Patberg and Gulbe well last night and the Hoosiers were ineffective from the three point line. Now, we don’t need to stumble Thursday at Penn State.

Makes no sense.  Hope we don't create another Leigha Brown situation.  Good thing she bleeds Husker Red.

Leigha probably had/has a lot of people chirping in her ears.  The only people I've had to either talk to or ban from the women's section in the last 5 years have been two of Brown's overzealous family members.

The one thing we all need to recognize is that when Leigha was coming off the bench and was 6th player of the year she was a sophomore.  Allison is a freshman and gaining more playing time each game.  She and Alexis have already demonstrated their great upside potential.

The thing that was bugging me the most was that Allison was not in the close games earlier in the year during crunch time.  Her minutes have been increasing and hopefully she will continue to be in the game during crunch time going forward.

If everyone comes back AW might be the 6th player of the year off the bench next year as a sophomore. One thing different from 2019-20 though is that this team is winning.

A Good Interview; One of the Best, with both the players, and Coach Amy!

Jaz, very appreciative of Husker Fans: "It’s incredible, it’s super special; I’ve never played in an environment like this before. I’m Super Thankful for these Fans; I don’t think we could have done it without them."

Starts w/Jaz, Alexis & Sam through about 4:50 mark
Coach Amy Williams starts about 6:50

I do think Brown had some in her ear while at NE. We do not know the dynamic between her, her teammates, and coaches. Just the one comment from Sam about the team from the shortened season and I don't she named Brown but it felt like a reference to her. Moving on...I think Weidner will continue the rest of this year to come off the bench. I just noticed last night's game and maybe a couple more when we was up she was installed to help with the press late in games. We have four games left before the B1G tourney and if we play the way we are capable of we can add four more wins.

Barring injury Allison Weidner will be a starter next year if not before that.  The reason is that she continues to improve at an amazing rate.  Much bigger upside than a typical upperclassman.

for that to happen, she would have to displace one of Haiby, Shelly, or Scoggins.  Unless one of them is injured, I don't see that happening.  As effective as AW has been, Haiby, for the moment, is at least equal in ball handling, distribution, defense and scoring and she has the advantage of experience.  Shelly more of the same.  That leaves Scoggins who is also adequate in all those areas and whose spot up 3 point threat has to be respected  I think that as long as our current three non-big starters are here and healthy, during this season, AW is the first small off the bench.

Nebraska garnered 1 vote (for 25th) in the AP poll, and 8 votes in the Coaches poll, which becomes essentially the 30th ranked team by the Coaches.

I think it's NU being 4-5 on the road, while a team like Indiana, for instance, is 6-2 on the road. NU 14-1 at home, and IU is 11-1. A few of my thoughts on the ranking (or lack thereof), which interestingly enough, Indiana is #17 in the NET while NU is #18.

The Nebraska Women’s Basketball Team had a great win against Indiana, despite some layups missed, below average free throw shooting, and some errand passes.  Nonetheless, defense was good and rebounding as well plus good hustle the whole game.

As mentioned previously for this game and others the coaching substitution pattern seems screwy at times.  The below copy of the play by play from 3:50 left in the first quarter to the end of the quarter reflects this.  Allison Wiedner had an offensive rebound and put back for 2 at about 3:48. She scored a jumper at 2:35.  At 1:53 or so she got a defensive rebound and scored a jumper at 1:48.  Meanwhile she was subbed out at 1:00 minute along with other subbing.  What kind of coaching is this when you sub out a hot hand with a minute left in the quarter!!    Meanwhile, Alexis Markowski was subbed in with a minute left in the quarter already having one foul.   While an 19-6 record is commendable  some coaching acumen at more times could help sustain the winning.

Weirder played 27 minutes.  Starter minutes.   I think we need to let the coaches determine substitution patterns. They have been doing it quite a while.

Ratings: Looking at it as unbiased as possible

We lost twice to Iowa, and they're about 22nd rated.  Lost to Ohio St and Maryland. (all top 25 teams) Unfortunately we're kind of mid pack in the B1G. That just doesn't translate well for the voters that don't watch the league every day/week....

I to, think we should be in the top 25, but have to beat another Top 25 team, and/or  pretty much finish out with all wins, so we can break the 20 win barrier. Then how can we be continue to be ignored.

Most of the top 25 teams have as good or mostly better records than us even at 19-6.

But...we're looking good for the NCAA's brackets. And even bigger is we have 4 regular league games left. Win them all and we're 23-6. Win at least a couple in the B1G tourney too, and we must be recognized.

We just can't get to much closer....we're almost there.

Our strength of schedule presently is 69.  As for ratings at this point I could care less.  I think it gives us some added incentive.  The most important statistic as we approach the end of the regular season is the NET ratings where we sit at 18th.  The longer the season goes on the more statistically accurate they become.  We are in good position with four games left & we are still ahead of Iowa 22 and Ohio State 28.  But behind Maryland 14, Michigan 15 and Indiana 17.

To follow-up some on @HUD's thoughts, It doesn't bother me that we are not ranked, and are more or less ignored by the media and B1G.  For me, This pales in comparison to:

    • The beautifully entertaining team of ladies we're blessed with.
    • There seems to be a lot of JOY on this TEAM.
    • Aggressive;  HIghly Spirited individual personalities.
    • Coaches and players seem to mesh well
    • Team play is a priority, playing Together and FOR each other.

Perfect?  No, but always working to improve (and with Definite Goals always in mind).

Come to think about it, Coach Amy's Teams have always seemed to be entertaining; Never too full of themselves to forget about playing together And having fun, But, Win or Lose, Always Competitive.

BUT, This is the most entertaining team I believe I've ever seen, both for the fans, and for themselves.

Somehow I think too much media attention might distract from their Goals.

Take care of the above; And recognition will follow.

 full disclosure, I saw some of the talking points posted by someone elsewhere)

You seem inclined to criticize other posters.  OK, this is a free forum.   By the way, who is this "Weirder" you reference?  If Allison, your variation of her name seems a bit negative.

Red Don's post summed up my feelings to a tee.  I have been going to most of the WBB games for a lot of years and have never enjoyed a season as much as this one.  I went to a couple of mens games during this time as well but I prefer Women's BB.  No comparison.  Women's game to me is more pure and they play under the rim where men play over the rim in todays games. GBR

Thanks HUD.  I only wish I could take credit for it.  🙃   As I indicated, the genesis of my post was a post I saw by someone else.
