I hope Nebraska offers Wingett, pairing him with Arop would be a nice duo in the 2017 recruiting class.

Are there grade issues? Character issues? I hate to post that and elude that there might be those things - but I'm just thinking out loud. I just feel like the things he can do at 6'7", 6'8" cannot be taught.

I think Wingett will get better offers now that he's playing for AAU teams that play better competition. http://nebraskahshoops.com/2016-aau-primer-team-nebraska-express/

The background on David's twitter account shows the whole Billups squad: https://twitter.com/wingett_jr

That is Anthony Bratton of Omaha Westside alongside Winnebago's David Wingett.

this is off topic, but who was the last D1 player from Lincoln? i can't think of any in the last 5 years unless i'm missing someone.

Nick Bahe or Matt Hill are the only 2 I can think of in recent memory that went on scholarship somewhere.  I could just be misremembering any other.

I see a player on the court that was better than Jalen Bradley, who I think should have been given a scholarship to NU. I still stand by that. JB won't ever be a standout, but he is a capable shooter, something this team could have certainly used the past couple of years. He would have had a role. He shot 40% from 3 this year, which would have been second on the team.

Isn't Bradley a 5th year senior?  Did he graduate from Oral Roberts?

No, he had one year at UNO, transfered, then just played his first season at ORU. So unless he redshirted at UNO, which I don't believe he did, he is only a junior.

Jalen Bradley played at a Nebraska JUCO (Northeast Comm. College) for a year between his 1 year at Omaha and Oral Roberts. He will be a senior this upcoming season.

Ah, they didn't have that on the ESPN stats.

Either way he'd have had an extra year in there "transferring." Instead, Jalen played ball in Norfolk, NE, for that season in lieu of riding the pine in Tulsa (or elsewhere) as a Div. 1 transfer. Seemed to have worked out fairly well for Bradley all in all. He played pretty well in the game I saw him play at Omaha this past season.

If you have enough college credits to earn a degree, you could be a graduate transfer freshman.

Bradley was in the same class as Gesell.  He redshirted his freshman year. Thus, he's been in college for 4 years now....he's either done enough to graduate in 4 or not.  He's played 3 years (UNO, NCC, ORU) If he has graduated he's can transfer anywhere in Div 1 with 1 year left.

He redshirted in Omaha nearly 4 years ago; he's now a Redshirt Senior in Tulsa. It seems that the redshirt season probably allowed Bradley to be good enough for the Summit League. Props to Jalen for getting better since he barely saw the floor while a Mav.

Here's the full report on Arop (including some good stuff):

Aguek Arop, F (Omaha South): The Nebraska pledge was up and down this weekend, finishing with two points in one game and zero in another. But he showed up big-time in the championship game. Arop was efficient offensively, scoring 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting. But on defense, he was an absolute force. At 6-feet-5, he is capable of guarding basically every position at the AAU level. He moves his feet incredibly well and his length makes him nearly impossible to complete a pass against when he’s engaged in denial. Like his teammate Wingett, Arop also threw down one of the biggest dunks of the weekend, catching the ball on the wing, attacking the basket and throwing down with both hands over a defender who rotated over to contest.

That report to me, sounds like a recent former Husker commit Keanu Pinder.  An offensive enigma of sorts but a defensive stalwart.

luckily we don't need aguek to play right away. i feel like he has a ways to go to be a contributor in the big 10. i would say his best case scenario would be ade dagunduro. they're both undersized small forwards.

Honestly as long as they can continue to get some solid contributors on offense I think he becomes your perfect 7th/8th man. Look at guys like Roberson for OKC that don't score much but are able to lock down any player for the other team regardless of position sans the center. Having a guy like that at the college level off the bench is huge in crucial stretches of a game. Not every player we sign will end up being a star or even a starter but getting solid role players as well as hitting on the other guys is the difference between the bottom of the Big and the middle of the Big.

And he is a Nebraska kid.
