Coach Phil Buckner helping???

I sit behind the Nebraska bench about 3 rows up and I can hear and read lips the best I can during the games as coaches talk to the players during the games as they come off the floor.

 

I have really noticed Coach Phil Breckner has been ripping guys during the games saying negative things to players that will take any confidence you may still have completely away.  I haven't heard anything like that before. I have noticed players shutting down after he talks to them.

 

Coach Smith, Coach Hunter and Coach Harriman would talk to guys during the games in a manner that would challenge them to go out and do better but not tear them down like I hear now..

 

I just think he is causing players to second guess their game decisions during play which is hard to do in the game of basketball as bad things will follow.

Hmmm…  You claim that you can read lips, but you're seemingly illiterate?  It's "Beckner" not "Buckner" or "Bruckner".

 

Clearly, we need to treat our players like the delicate, special snowflakes that they are if we hope to win games in one of the toughest and most physical leagues to play in.

I'm out visiting my parents (not Kamdy...) in Rip City this week, and I will be attending the Blazers-Cavs game on Saturday.  If I can get close enough to Subzero, I'll be sure to ask him what he thinks of Coach Beckner's coaching prowess

I too have had the opportunity to sit right behind the bench for the game.  I can say that I did not see anything close to what was reported above.  I did see Coach Miles light up a player, and quite frankly, the player took it well.

I sit near the bench and watch the staff, Beckner is constantly up and yelling but I've never seen him lay into a guy any more than any other coach.  I also follow him on twitter and judging from that, he is extremely POSITIVE

My impression of this coach is that he is a tremendously positive addition to the staff--in every possible way. Just hate to see trash talk like this about an excellent coach. And former players love him!

It goes to show: unless things are going great, stay away from boards like this.

sometimes you gotta yell at players when you're tied with prairie view at the half.
