So awesome for Drake and Kearney High made a great decision. Drake preaches fundamentals and he knows how to let players play. He'll also bring so much energy to their youth programs it will play great dividends.

I remember beating a lot of Aurora teams back in high school.  

 

I remember they ran the old Maryland I (three-back I set), and their splits were so wide I would spend the whole game in the backfield hitting the ball carrier and/or the quarterback.  

 

Great to see Kearney High getting a good coach.  Hopefully, Drake can build a dynasty similar to their track and field team!

Actually it's Omaha & Lincoln (and lately only Omaha) that is the top of H.S. in Nebraska.  I can't remember the last out-state team in class A to take state.

Grand Island won state twice in the early 2000's.  Norfolk in 1987.  (Norfolk was runner-up in 2010)

Actually it's Omaha & Lincoln (and lately only Omaha) that is the top of H.S. in Nebraska.  I can't remember the last out-state team in class A to take state.

 

 

I believe Omaha teams have won every year for over a decade...

My shame continues.  My Columbus Discoverers hire a Creighton grad (Jimmy Motz), and lets Kearney get the guy who played for Nebraska.
