Per Robin's update, it doesn't sound like Nebraska is in the mix anymore. Where the heck do you go from here?

If true...I sure hope it doesn't mean holding on to the 13th scholarship yet again.

I think Nebrasketball needs either a tough wing or a PF/C that, in either case, are capable of great D & rebounding with an occasional pick-and-pop (or roll) opportunity.

That would be ideal...but how many good prospects are still out there?  Perhaps we are still in on some prospects we haven't heard about just yet.

There's this guy, Tomasz Gielo, who just graduated:

We reportedly visited him at home....I'd suspect it was Kenya since it was the East Coast.

----------------------------------------------------------

"The main thing is to come in and be an impact player, to be able to showcase my abilities and be able to put me in a good position for the (NBA) draft," Harris said. "But I want to go to a school and win, get to the Tournament.

"I would like to have a decision a day or two before or a day or two after (I graduate)," Harris said. "I have finals next week so I will take the week off (from recruiting). The week after that is the week I'll be open to getting back into the process."

"I'm not sure if I will take two more (official) visits," Harris said. "I haven't had a chance to talk it over with my family because it's been hectic, but I will figure it out soon."

----------------------------------------------------------

Harris now has taken official visits to Auburn, Georgia Tech and Iowa State, and unofficial visits to Connecticut and Boston College. He's also had in-home visits with coaches from Nebraska, Oklahoma State, VCU and LaSalle.

----------------------------------------------------------

He has a lot of talent. That is a lot of schools.

Here is my read on Harris: He wants to go to a school that

1) Features him

2) Features him

3) Will make the tourney

Also, his father is HIGHLY involved.

It would seem they haven't gotten a school to completely buy into this plan.

If we bring in Harris to buy into our program, we have a decent shot of it working out.

If we bring in Harris because we plan to feature him as the man, it's more likely we're dropping a chemisty nuclear bomb on the 2015-16 season than adding that missing piece. If he was an actual PF or Center as opposed to SG in a SF's body, it would be a lot easier to meet him half way.

He can pick and pop but this doesn't really describe Harris.

I, personally, don't particularly care "who" it is (as in a big name or not) as long as that player will be devoted to the team above individual pride/accomplishments. And, be B1G-time of course. Not too much to ask, is it? ;)

Well if we got an in home visit and he isn't coming to NU to see the campus and facilities, I'm guessing we are not high on his list and didn't like what NU had to offer.

Probably better for all parties to move on... I think he would have been an intriguing B1G prospect if he were a traditional transfer. That way he would have a season to assimilate into the team concept at Nebraska. Oh well, guess it doesn't appear that he & NU were meant to be together.

Totally agree.  I guess it's on to Plan B or whatever plan we're on now.

i think we could guarantee him that he would play the pitchford role and could tell him he would have a good chance to play 30 min a night if he does what we need him to do, which would be to be a stretch 5.

I wouldn't be completely surprised if being asked to play the 5 isn't at least a large part of the reason he didn't bother to make a visit. He's a wing that wants to play the wing because that is where he will play at the next level, whether in the NBA or in Europe.

This isn't like the Pitchford situation.  Pitch was a big that wanted to play outside.  Harris is a wing that would be forced to play a position that he isn't physically cut out to play.  Yes he is tall, but he is skinny and not a wide body at all.

I don't think missing on him is bad news at all.  I've been pretty vocal in stating that he isn't really a true big man and don't think he is gonna fix what is ailing.

I think we are waaay past plan B.. I think we have switched over to different preparations...

I think we are now on to preparation H.

Unless there is a plan that involves a foreign player, or a player that is somehow attached to our yet to be named assistant coach, I am now in the camp that says we will need to play the cards that are currently in our hand next season and hope that a few players will be exponentially better than they were this past season.

Jorge Brian Diaz showed up on our doorstep literally days if not hours before the fall semester was supposed to start and if he'd simply checked a different box on his UN-L application, he'd have been cleared and able to play immediately.  When Doc showed up to take over for Barry Collier in late July or early August, he brought Sak Henry with him, somehow.

Sometimes, things fall into place.  There are sometimes guys out there who fill a need and happen to be available.  It's not over.  There's still time to find someone -- and not just someone who takes up space, but someone who can actually play.  Granted, the odds get longer.  But the door isn't closed just yet.

With some of the late coaching changes, there are still some shoes that could drop and players who might get released from their LOIs and be looking for a new team to join.  Hey, it could yet happen.  (I just wouldn't advise holding your breath while waiting.)
