Very loud and upbeat music is being played during the opposing team's player introductions before the game starts.  It has completely drowned out attempts to get the Husker-Power chant going.

Have they played music during this time in previous years?  I sure don't remember it.  Why would they start this year to conflict with what is a Nebraska basketball original?

I brought this up with a friend of mine who knows someone that works that table. He said he'd ask for me as I have wondered the same thing. Maybe Jean has taken over the music for the intro of the visiting team.

Glad to hear someone else has noticed this and is asking about it.  Your comment about Jean is appropriate as it honestly does feel like our own sound people are purposefully drowning out our own fan base.

I would also suggest that the students start the chant BEFORE the team introductions begin.  There usually is a lull between the end of the anthem and the beginning of team intros, and that is when the chant should begin.  It takes a few times for the chant to catch on, and if the students wait until intros have started, the intros are almost done by the time it catches on and takes off, plus they are fighting over the PA announcer as well.

If they're gonna pull that crap and try to drown out our new tradition with music during the opponents' intros, I think we ought to respond somehow.

What if the entire student section headed for the tunnel and walked out just before the intros and yelled "Husker Power" in the entry area during that time?  And didn't come back in until after the opening tip?  Or the first media time-out, even.  A little act of defiance.  Something that says, basically, "screw you, we intend to set a tone here.  And if you want it quiet, we'll show you how uncomfortably quiet it would be without us."

If they drown us out during the Creighton intros, then I say walk out on the pre-game intros for Incarnate Word and don't come back in until the first media time-out.

I love that we can reach out to the guy and work it out. Seriously, that's awesome.

What's awesome is the range of people (who are in positions of making a difference) that read HHC, and are responsive to suggestions.  Didn't we have the PBA events director (or something) post here a few times about a year ago?  Also, we've heard from Mike Welch and Kent Pavelka, among others within the last year or so.

And Norm Peterson.  Don't forget him.  He was all "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!"

That's one thing Red Zone been trying to do is start the chant right after the National Anthem. Worked a lot better during one of the games last week than earlier this year. But still trying to get it ironed out.

I was getting ready to personally knock on Dean Wormer's door if I had to.  This was an outrage up with which I shall not put.

Since we're on the topic of music....any suggestions on some fresh beats to switch it up?

I thought this question might get a few answers...it's amazing how the focus has changed with the team. :)

Along with the music, can Nebraska please stop playing Jump Around? They played it during pregame of the football game, and in the later stages of the woman's game tonight. We booed the DJ enough to get them to quit playing it before the football game, but not enough for tonight.

If one has to go to that era, I'd rather hear Slam by Onyx
