Alright, so I went ahead and ran with a few ideas. The first thing I did, was take a stab at designing a new logo for our board:

 

 

Then I tried a few different header ideas. Block N with forum name:

I'm a fan of the Lincoln skyline ones, looks good - maybe make the arena clearly visible on the far right? Kind of as an anchor on that side? And maybe have an "N" in red on the arena silhouette, so it stands out more, although that may be too much. Just a suggestion, looking forward to seeing more!

I like the ones with the sky line also, But if put the arena on the right then you would have to go with the last one. Other wise the writing would cover up the arena and the red N.

I agree with Jimmy that any sort of skyline should feature a prominent view of the capital...easily the most identifiable item of the Lincoln Skyline. Would a skyline that also includes a silhouette of the arena be more appropriate? No idea if that is actually feasible though I'll pay more attention driving downtown tomorrow.

 

I'd have to say I'm more of a fan of the State outline than the Big Red N. Anyone have thoughts on the font?

Hate the font.  I think that if possible it would be cool to use the "official" font the AD is using now...apparently Rockwell Extra Bold with a slightly modified N is a pretty close approximation.

 

As far as the skyline, it would also be cool to use an image like this:

 

 

Granted that's a copyrighted image by Collin Ulness http://www.collinulness.com but I think it's pretty close to what folks are talking about.

This is just being nitpicky for the sake of being nitpicky, but if a random person visited the site, would they know that it was for basketball? The hardwood floor kind of alludes that, but that's about it.

I haven't forgotten about this btw.  I have some more work to do and I'd like to explore some different fonts for HHC.

I'm working on a completely new skin that would allow for multiple backgrounds or for you to even put your own in.

....now that that's over, hopefully we can have a smooth transition unlike nearly every high tech company that makes one small change and people think the world is about to end.

I have watched a lot of players come and go.  Lots.  You have great players, you have elite players and then you have the best player ever, at any position.  Michael was the greatest player ever.  There are a lot of elite players including Oscar, Dr. J, Magic, Bird, Lebron, Wilt, Kareem, and Kobe among others.  But Michael had no holes in his game.  Of the others, Kobe may be close, but Michael was more physical as well as being an athletic.

That's starting to look like something, dimes.  If I had a suggestion, I think I'd say to make the state outline smaller and pull the text out of the state outline and let it stand on its own, probably on the right or the left, not under.  No need to take inordinate space with a logo.

Sorry I haven't been more attentive to some of the requests for additional designs. I still plan to get around to some of the other suggestions from other people in this thread. If Dimes decides to go with the designs already submitted, that'd be alright too.
