lanigan123 Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Illinois will pack the paint and make Terran make shots, not finish them. Meaning, Ray, Walt, etc need to make big shots from outside. Quote
huskerbaseball13 Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Illinois will pack the paint and make Terran make shots, not finish them. Meaning, Ray, Walt, etc need to make big shots from outside. Rey was 6-13 from deep last year in Champaign. I'll take that again this evening....oh, and I'll be happy to see Illinois leave Walt open from deep. Quote
busticket Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 I'd say Ray is overdue for a torrential shooting night. This would be as good of a time as any! Quote
hhcmatt Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Rey was 6-13 from deep last year in Champaign. They have weird lighting there. Could be that. Quote

Norm Peterson Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Planning on packing the paint to stop Terran and actually doing it are two different things. I'll believe they can do it when I see them do it. This isn't like throwing a double-team at a post player receiving a post-entry and trying to back his defender down. Where are you going to help off of? Are you just going to leave Egwu in the low post protecting the rim? Play zone? They better hope everyone else on the team is ice cold. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Was thinking about that. Kind of wondering if they might try something weird to win. Thought about a box and one or triangle and two. Quote
doc1394 Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Never would I have thought early in the season that teams would have to pack the pain to stop our inside game, especially with no post presence Quote
lanigan123 Posted February 26, 2014 Author Report Posted February 26, 2014 I think they go zone. 1-3-1? 2-3? Quote
hskr4life Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 We would hurt a 1-3-1 I think... More likely a 2-3 would stop us best. Maybe a little half court trap or full court soft press Quote
Norm Peterson Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 We have had some difficulties from time to time this year with match-up zones. But that was typically back before Shavon found his stroke again. We'll have to see. I expect it to be interesting. Quote
lanigan123 Posted February 26, 2014 Author Report Posted February 26, 2014 It's so key for Ray to hit some shots. Quote
hhctony Posted February 27, 2014 Report Posted February 27, 2014 The key to beating a zone is to beat it getting set up. Early offense and attack the zone before they settle and you pass for 20 seconds. If we see zone getting the tempo up may be needed. Quote
