Not to worried about Minnesota. Two game lead with three to play. Win on Saturday and we won't have to care two licks about them.

For NCAA tourney purposes we do seem to need to care about them IMO.  Just beating them in league may not be good enough to get in over them.

True. Gophers get a trip to Michigan and then host Penn St. to close it out.

The thing we all have to realize is that other bubble teams are going to lose as well.  Palm had a little write up already this morning and said he still has NU as the first 4 out.  As much as last night stinks as we had a great opportunity to move up, other teams did lose and a LOT of game tonight that can move things around.  Plus we still have 3 games left.  Gotta start by bouncing back on Saturday.

Richmond losing to a 10-17 G. Mason hurts them.

Cal lost

WV lost

NC State lost

Baylor lost

Stanford lost

I follow all of this extremely close and some of the "bubble" teams still have a tough road ahead as well and could lose steam.

GTown @Marquette, vs CU, @Nova

Providence @Seton Hall, vs Marquette, @CU

Oregon @UCLA, @USC, vs ASU, vs Zona

St. Joe's @St. Bon, @GW, vs LaSalle

Dayton; UMASS, @St. Louis, Richmond

Cal: @ASU, Utah, Colorado

Zags: @Pacific, @St. Mary's

Arkansas: @Kentucky, Georgia, Miss, @Bama

Colorado: @Utah, @Stanford, @Cal

Okie State: KU, KSU, @ISU

ASU: Cal, @Oregon, @Oregon State

Things can still happen!  We just need to keep our chins up and get a W on Saturday and move forward.

Great point here. Instead of the "we're done" rationale, last night could be thought of as an opportunity to move up and an opportunity lost. In the grand scheme of the bubble and in regards to all the other bubble teams we probably lost little if any ground and there's a long ways to go.

Now, that said, lose to Northwestern and we're done. Beat Northwestern and we get another opportunity at Indiana. Not saying we don't make it harder on ourselves by losing, but it's certainly not over until the entire bubble plays out their schedules.

given that on btn pregame scoonie penn said he thinks we have to win out, i would say that we DEFINATELY lost ground....yes some other bubble teams will lose games,  but some teams not currently on the bubble will emerge and there will also be bids stolen in conf trny's ......we lost a lota ground and now probly have to win 4 straight games to have any hope

The fact of the matter is that nobody knows what it's going to take so they all throw out a guess. Does Scoonie Penn know what all the other bubble teams are going to do? No. This is a fluid situation. Obviously a loss makes it tougher, decreases likelihood of getting in, etc. But I don't think you can necessarily say that we definitely lost ground compared to the bubble teams. Plenty of others lost as well so I don't think a road loss to a top 100 team drops us a whole bunch. Makes it tougher, yes, because there are fewer opportunities left.

And huskerpower1988, to say we have to win 4 straight to have any hope is just flat out wrong. If we want to leave zero doubt we need 4 straight. But you're not gonna hold out any hope if we finish 3-0 and lose first round of B1G tourney? No hope if we finish 2-1 then win first round game? No hope if we finish 1-2, go 9-9 then win 2 B1G tourney games?

You're saying THE ONLY way we get in is to win 4 straight? And because Scoonie Penn said so?

In the span of 12 hours you started a thread saying last night was not a letdown and that it wasn't realistic to expect the Huskers to win out; then said it was a huge opportunity lost, the Huskers have to win their 3 last games AND one in the tournament, not making the NCAA Tournament would be a huge disappointment and basically the sky is falling.

Pick a stance and stick with it. No one knows what it will take to get us in. But I will tell you 11-7 in the Big Ten would be pretty damn good, no matter what we do at the Big Ten Tournament.

To piggy back with HuskerActuary, I too, took to Twitter and chatted with Mast. A win for Oregon moves them up in the pecking order ahead of us. That said, Saturday may be crazy and if we can just win and take care of business should continue to keep us on solid ground.

Rooting against Dana Altman shouldn't be difficult for this board

Difficult? Literally my favorite thing to do.

you misunderstood,  the illinois losss was a huge letdown to myself personally and probably a lot of the fan base..but it was not a letdown by the team,  meaning i dont feel the pressure got to them or that they laid an egg, or that they overlooked illinos, my point was after the big sparty win  that past husker teams would have lost the nxt game at home or one after that when we were favored, but instead we beat purdue and psu by blowouts.......illinois was favored against us and its very hard to win on the road,  so yes its a huge dissapointment to me personally as we were soo close   (and still have a chance)  but i dont think its fair to say the team laid an egg, that was my point. I stand by my stance that we need to win the nxt 2 and 1 in trny to be a lock,  and that if we lose the nxt 2 we have to atleast make the tournament final......anything else in between puts us solely on the bubble come selection sunday,   have i said anything that u disagree with miles?
