Look at Nebraska, tied for 3rd in D1 basketball players per million residents. Obviously a lot of them aren't at high-major programs, but there's been some players coming out of the state recently.

This just randomly popped up on my Twitter. Not saying this kid is D1/walk-on caliber (these are the only highlights I’ve seen) but for it being Holdredge, these are some nice highlights.

 

The quality of basketball in the state is certainly on the up!

I have only watched him once this year.  He was very good; but didn't walk away thinking he was a high Division I player. 

Actually, the Lincoln kid I have my eye on is the North Star kid.  Jordan Castor.  I believe he is only a freshman, and he's got game.

Also intrigued by Bahl from Papillion; but I may just be caught up with who his sister is.

Castor is a sophomore, 5'11", stats are impressive.

I was looking him up today, and he's going to be even more of a problem when he adds a few inches. Great at getting steals. Think he set a single season record for steals at North Star. They may press a lot.

However thought this deserved a little bit of love because it’s a kid from Aurora fricking Nebraska just casually draining threes at Golden State.

Don't expect Castor to grow much. His dad is smaller than he is. 

 

Houston isn't getting many offers because of grades. That's why you're seeing mainly JUCO's recruiting him.

 

For those who don't know, Houston transferred from North Star to Northeast this year. That was after Castor's dad was hired as the head coach

Houston was also at Northeast his freshman year before he transferred to North Star.

 

I agree about Castor, would be a surprise if he grows much.

Coaching tennis at NWU.

 

Castor is a good coach and his kid is special.  Jordan is a good student last I heard to boot.  I really think NU would be silly to not give him an offer.  He's only a sophomore.  I agree that he's likely done growing but so is Chris Paul.  He's that sort of crafty.  I think his game would translate just fine.  He was JUCO-calber in middle school just because of his court IQ, imo.  He has plenty of athleticism too (can dunk at 5'11"), but his court awareness and ability to control pace is crazy.  

 

Zerek has really shined this season.  Happy for him.  I can't speak to his grade issues but I know for sure there's no bad blood with LNS.  Just not enough basketballs for he and Jordan to have the spotlight they deserve as PGs.  Zerek is a freak athlete, but more of a straight up scorer, and I'm not sure that will translate to D1 as well.  It's all moot if grades are a problem.  If he cared about football someone could make him an NFL corner but that ship has probably sailed.

I went to the LNS vs LNE game on Saturday night.

Houston and Castor are studs. 

They are both remarkable off the dribble and can create their own shot whenever they want.

Houston is an excellent passer as well.

 

They both have a good demeanor on the court as well.

Not a lot of antics.

Houston is a beast I would love to give that kid a walk on opportunity, but I think he should go JUCO or a prep year like the Bashir twins did
