bobcat402 Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 id be shocked if this was all for zach smith..im sorry but if he was here on a official loved the place, likely would have commited if we offered but we didn't, and he doesn't fit really what we need right now....why would we fly to Dallas to see him...their aren't any AAU tourneys going right not either..this all screams connection with ER jdostal 1 Quote
uneblinstu Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 According to FlightAware.com, it arrived in Dallas at 10:25 this morning. Just 6 minutes before ER's tweet. Norm Peterson 1 Quote
MandRHusker Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 Again, just an FYI but Zach Smith is also in Dallas.Does Zach Smith have an offer? Can't remember if he was one who left town after his visit without one. Very possible that the coaches are down there just doing the standard recruiting stuff. Zach Smith is 6-7ish and we are stacked at the wing/small forward position. The timing of this is very strange, indeed. He's tweeted this type of thing before but why today, why Dallas? And why would he tweet it if it was just another trip down to Texas? Craig Smith is our Texas guy, right? And Harriman works with the bigs? Do I have this correct or which of our assistants works directly with the big guys?I believe that he has one but I'm not positive. Robin just did an update with him sbrf he said he liked out here and we are in his Final 3 with TCU and Texas Tech. The Rivals profile for Smith does not list a Nebraska offer. In the article by Robin he listed Smith at 6'8", which may make him a PF candidate. This makes more sense as we are in need of a PF but not a wing. we need a true center..ER is the man we need...Yes, I agree it would be great to get ER and he is first priority. I've assumed we have room for 3 bigs this year, two centers, Hammond and hopefully ER, and one PF. Smith has grown and is probably now a credible PF prospect. Quote

So we're thinking we get commitments from Elbert and Zach Smith as a result of Harrimans trip to Dallas this morning? Quote
cwshuskers Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 I just can't get it out of my mind that we told Wacker to go ahead and go with Boise. We've backed off on going after another center and Smith still doesn't have an offer. If Elbert hasn't picked Nebraska (I'm sure he's already informed all parties), then we would be scrambling big time right now and it doesn't appear that the coaches are doing that. Kenya's relationship with the family very early on may be the tipping point. He's been in on Elbert for 3 years. Nebrasketball's luck is changing and my gut feeling is that he's "N". Either way, I wish the kid nothing but the best of luck. He seems like a class act. Quote

ajb5856 Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 And now this tweet straight to an OSU player: @ElbertRobinson8: @Ame_DV_33 sup fam!!! Quote
FredsSlacks Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 I'm just happy he's not waiting until April to make this decision. It gives us a chance to sway Wacker back to us, or go after another one of our second options. I respect Elbert for taking as many visits as possible until he knew what he wanted. OSU seems likely who he picked. I hope Elbert is prepared to lose half his twitter followers if he does choose OSU. Quote
Cookie Belcher Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 Yeah I think it's Ohio State until I hear different on Tuesday Quote

leonidas Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 The double-whammy. Not only do we not get him but we have to play against him, too. Quote
hskr4life Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 Well... I guess if you are going to tweet Ohio State players and what not... why not just pledge to them today?? I dont think he is one to play mind games as I said earlier, so it is not looking great... though he did tweet Walter and called him fam before i believe. Quote
ShortDust Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 Yea, this whole tweeting deal.. I don't know what to look at as real. I truly think he heads to osu! Funny how many followers he'll lose though. Wish him the best besides the games we play him each year. Quote

bball23 Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 He tweeted directly to Pitchford too.....none of us will know until Tuesday but Elbert. These are 18 year old kids that are tweeting one another. Who's to say he didn't make great relationships at every single place he visited? So he tweeted and followed somebody...big deal. We'll see how this plays out. Quote
