hhcmatt Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 He doesn't want to stay in college more than 2 years? I don't how I feel about him saying that. These are the problems we want to have. a0t0w0 1 Quote
FredsSlacks Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 So, here's how it's going to go down. Elbert visits Ohio State this weekend? Along with all their other commits, as I understood it from above in this thread? So, D'Angelo Russell (a previous Nebraska target) will be there also? Yeah. They both will hate Columbus. The whole attitude will rub them the wrong way. Russell will rethink his commitment and he and Elbert will get to talking about how Nebraska would be just as good as Ohio State if they both went there instead. So Elbert calls Miles and says, hey, if I commit, would you have room for D'Angelo Russell too? And Miles says, hmmm, maaaaybe, I'd have to see, but yeah, I think I could make that work. And then Elbert says, well, let me put D'Angelo on the phone. And D'Angelo says, hey, Coach Miles, me and Elbert want to come to Nebraska. But we're a package deal. So, if you want him, you gotta take me too. And then Norm woke up, and then ... Quote
Swan88 Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Norm dozes off again and Elbert chooses Ohio St., but Elbert has a Colton Iverson-like experience (at Minnesota) or a Walter Pitchford-like experience (at Florida) in Columbus and decides to transfer to the place he should have picked in the first place; at which time Tim Miles says, "Sure you can transfer here . . . " And then Norm wakes up again. Quote
ajb5856 Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Per Robin it's looking like Lebron James will be at Ohio State this weekend as well. Shaq and then Lebron... Quote
ShortDust Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Per Robin it's looking like Lebron James will be at Ohio State this weekend as well. Shaq and then Lebron... Who could he have met here? Larry the cable guy? haha Should've at least brought in someone. I remember hearing the rumor that Neil Smith was going to be in town when he was here, but I don't know if that was just a rumor or actually happened. Hell bring in Erick Strickland again, (Tai visit) better to get the players experience. Or just let the coaches do their own work and say he can be that guy Nebraska calls to come back,v when we have high end recruits coming. Quote
49r Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 We could bring in...Dave Hoppen? Dunno, Elbert would just be like "Dave...Hoppen?" http://cdn.stationcaster.com/stations/kozn/media/mp3/09_27_13_Seg_12__BronBron-1380308235.mp3 Quote
trickey Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Per Robin it's looking like Lebron James will be at Ohio State this weekend as well. Shaq and then Lebron... While it would be great to meet Lebron (who never went to college)...how much weight do you believe guys give to a guy they may never see again...and certainly not with regularity? I hope we aim at recruits smart enough to care more about their day to day life than they do Lebron, Shaq or even a Jay-Z concert. While these may all make a guy decide to spend a weekend to visit... They are not what the informed, intelligent recruit needs to determine the opportunities presented by a school on a regular basis are worth a commit. These exciting moments are the door-busters that get a recruit on campus...not the important things that will keep them there. Creighton Fan 1 Quote
FredsSlacks Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 meeting lebron and shaq doesn't make you a better basketball player, so I don't think it really matters. He should go to Nebraska and make history by getting our first NCAA win. Quote

Concrete Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 Shaq is one thing... Obviously one of the most dominating forces we've ever seen, but Elbert was very young while Shaq was in his prime. I'm sure he appreciates his greatness, idolizes him, etc. but it would probably be like someone my age (born 1988) meeting Larry Bird or Magic. Obviously I'd be blown away and probably be rendered speechless, but I don't remember either of them playing.. As a recruit, it'd be cool, but not a game changer. Meeting Lebron, though.... Damn. That's tough to beat. HuskerActuary and bobcat402 2 Quote
bobcat402 Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 i think Shaq is much like Jordan to many youth, they may not have seen their dominance, but they know of it, and their personlity are bigger than basketball. Plus im sure that ER has heard baby shaq more than once, given his size and unique attributes. Quote
Hooper Posted September 28, 2013 Author Report Posted September 28, 2013 I can't believe we blew a golden opportunity to get Erik Piatkowski back to meet Elbert during his visit. Would have blown his mind! bobcat402 1 Quote
Swan88 Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 With his final official visit going to Georgetown, probably gotta figure they are in the driver's seat for Elbert's commitment. Also, if this thread get's past 31 pages, gotta figure it's a dead-lock cinch that Elbert commits to a school other than Nebraska. Quote

ajb5856 Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Yeah not good. Although maybe his dream was to just play college basketball and his dream wasn't specific to a certain team. Maybe this is just his announcement that his decision is coming soon. Or maybe he was daydreaming about eating Chipotle earlier today and he's heading there now to fill up. bobcat402 1 Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Yeah the longer this goes on the more I think we are going to see him at PBA, but he will be in a Ohio State uni. Just my feeling. It is starting to feel like we were the 3rd interview. You know when a company interviews 3 people and you know that one is just there to meet the need to interview 3 people and has no chance to get the job. I was the 3 rd interview once, it is a weird feeling when about 2 minutes into the interview you can really tell you have no chance, and they are just going through the motions with you. Quote

He liked it so much at LSU that he made a return trip to check them out. I honestly think Elbert doesn't know where he's going to go so he is checking out everything that he can. If a recruit has a lean, you often can get that out of them or you hear reports that one school is the favorite or top of the list. In Elbert's recruitment we've heard conflicting reports about almost everything. You've got Elbert, the AAU coach, and the family. We've heard a little from all three sectors of the camp. Everything has gone back and forth. Is he taking all his visits? He's narrowing his list now. He's not narrowing his list now. He's committing in November. No, he's committing sometime in April. He might not visit Ohio State. Okay, now he is. He might add a 5th visit. He might not. Okay, now he is. He may or may not visit Georgetown. Yes, now he is going to Georgetown. I think if Elbert had a clue, we would know something. Something, anything. We don't. Heck, Georgetown halfway acted like they were moving on or at least preparing heavily in case Elbert was no longer an option for them. Georgetown insiders had speculated as to whether the ship had sailed on ER. And then he schedules an official. I could be way off but my prediction right now is that Elbert is still in the looking at his options phase. I might be way off, he could go and cancel his Georgetown trip and commit to Ohio State tomorrow. But as for now, I don't believe we are eliminated. We are still in this. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 I don't know just how I feel. Most people pick the last thing they see, or it seems that way. Sometimes you do go back and pick the first thing you looked at. Only Elbert knows and he might not even know at this time. Quote
FredsSlacks Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 @ElbertRobinson8: I'm going to make my dream a reality That doesn't sound good for us. . . His dream is likely to play in the nba. He's going to take all 5 of his visits and why wouldn't he? I know i would. -I haven't seen him asking other school's fans for twitter followers like he did with us. Why would you want a bunch of Nebraska people following you if it wasn't your top choice? After watching the scrimmage, I think it's safe to say we need an inside presence more than any other team on his list. Quote
hhcmatt Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Another Monday after a trip, another non-commit while on campus. One more to go? 49r 1 Quote
