Nebrasketballer Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 A source confirmed Saturday that Nebraska is in the mix for Joseph Uchenbo, a 6-foot-11, 260-pound center from Chipola (Florida) Junior College and a former commit to North Carolina State. Uchenbo, who has visited Pitt and is visiting Minnesota, may also visit N.C. State, Oklahoma State and Nebraska. A native of Enugu, Nigeria, Uchenbo attended Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh, N.C., but went the junior college route after issues with the NCAA Clearinghouse prevented him from joining the 2011 class at N.C. State. http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/nu-hoops-in-mix-for-nigerian-center/article_700af4a2-b4e6-11e2-bd76-0019bb2963f4.html Quote

MandRHusker Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 12.3 rebounds per game was 3rd highest in juco that year. He shot 57% from the floor and 64% from the free throw line with .8 blocks/game. Joseph did average 2.2 turnovers per game. 3 to play 3 kid. If he has recovered from his knee injury, would be a perfect fit for our needs!!! Quote

Cybrrmonky Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 glad we finally got in on this guy. noticed awhile ago he was a highly ranked juco big man who wasn't committed. Quote

AuroranHusker Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 Does any one know (for sure) how to pronounce Uchebo? I guess we could call him JoBo to go along w/ fellow prospects JoJo & SoSo! Silverbacked1 1 Quote
hhcmatt Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 This guy seems like the diligence that the Huskers are doing on Herbert Quote
Nebrasketballer Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 Uchebo is an active post player that is surprisingly skilled for his age; he loves contact and is a load in the low blocks. He is aggressive rebounding the ball on both ends of the floor. He knows how to post up; he gets big, has good hands 4-Star, ESPN 100 Player coming out of high school (#12 Center, #83 overall prospect in 2011 class) http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/103199/joseph-uchebo hhcmatt and Silverbacked1 2 Quote

Nebrasketballer Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 This would be so perfect. Uchebo is a true Center and would fill a HUGE need. It would also allow Pitchford to move over to the 4-Spot, which is the position where he fits best. Since he is a 3-for-3 guy, Nebraska would have 3 seasons of Pitchford, Petteway, Shields, and Uchebo playing together, in addition to the incoming freshmen class. That is alot of time for the upgrade of roster talent to get playing time together. Quote
