TheKamdyMan Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 https://twitter.com/robinwashut/status/331068120502501376????Hmmmm. Me confused. No offer? Why'd we bring him in on an official then? 12 officials a year to blow. Why not. Norm Peterson 1 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 How many do we have left? Fuller Hawkins Agau Vitto Brown Webster Atewe Smith Tummala Herbert I could be missing a few (for all I know) and we're still looking to fill a spot. I can't imagine we have too many officials left to host for the 2013 class. Quote

bobcat402 Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 so now that Ubi (i dont want to attempt at spelling his name right now) is gone, any chance we go back after Mikael now, or is there someone else. Quote

Norm Peterson Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 Yeah, what Kamdy said. I think it's per recruiting class. So most of your official visits will take place in the summer and fall leading up to the November signing period. Then, if you still have spots to fill (like, oh, y'know, us maybe) you may have some more visits in the spring. But the limit of official visits applies to the class and not to the year in which the visit occurs. In other words, we're not burning official visits with these guys for the 2013 class that we won't have available in the fall. Rather, whatever officials happened last fall count against our limit for the 2013 class for which we're still trying to fill at least one spot. And the 2014 class will start over with a brand new set of downs, so to speak. Obviously, a team with fewer open spots will use fewer official visits. Teams with a lot of open spots for a particular class (like, oh, y'know, us maybe) have to be more judicious with their officials. Which is why I raised the question. There might not be too many more guys out there we'd want to bring in for visits, but if we do want to bring them in, we need to have the visists available. Quote

Nebrasketballer Posted May 7, 2013 Author Report Posted May 7, 2013 I am surprised that Herbert left Lincoln without an offer. I thought for sure that the only reason for that could be that Miles had an ace up his sleeve (like Uchebo or Jeter). Now that Uchebo is a no-go, and Jeter doesn't look much more promising, I am a little more confused about Herbert not getting an offer. I really hope that Miles does have that last second commit sitting in his back pocket ready to make it official. There's only a few days left for guys to pop up onto the Nebrasketball radar before it will be too late. Quote
MandRHusker Posted May 7, 2013 Report Posted May 7, 2013 I wonder if the fact that Herbert just had shoulder surgery and would more than likely have to redshirt next year had anything to do with not recieving an offer? Quote

I have to think we would of looked harder at Thomas if we knew the position we would be in right now. Thomas is 6'9 and put up 10 and 10 on a juco team with multiple d1 players. Quote

Where did Kevin Thomas end up? I thought all of the high major teams backed off Thomas because he wasn't going to qualify. He had legit teams hard after him and then all of a sudden he was choosing between St Bonaventure and Marshall as his only options. Quote
ajb5856 Posted May 7, 2013 Report Posted May 7, 2013 This is the last I heard about Kevin Thomas. From 4/16: @Tariq_NPH: Kevin Thomas, Canadian 6'8 Forward (Palm Beach State) has trimmed list to St Bonaventure, North Texas, Troy & Western Kentucky. #JUCO #NCAA Quote
golfer3 Posted May 7, 2013 Report Posted May 7, 2013 Wouldn't NU know Herbert had surgery before they brought him in for an offical visit? Don't know Herbert, obviously, but can't believe he wouldn't mention the shoulder surgery. Quote

I couldn't remember what he decided. My point being that his recruitment fell off the face of the earth after us, Minnesota, KState, Memphis were all after him. All of those schools knew something more about him to all just stop recruiting him all at once. This article says some more about Thomas including his desire to play the 3 position because of his ability to slash from the wing. We have those. We need a big body that wants to play inside. http://northpolehoops.com/2013/04/17/kevin-thomas-mentally-tough-ready-for-the-next-level/ Quote
