Seems to be a good hire.  He should return power football ro Memorial Stadium.  I do hope he retains a couple of the current coaches.

Oh yeah, he also likes speed to go with the power.

Perhaps we will return the traditional pipeline.

Trev handled this football coaching search like an absolute pro - negotiating to have College Game Day interview Rhule live minutes after they announced it is another genius move.

As he did at UNO with hockey, when he finds the person he wants as the coach, he's relentless. I don't know if we'll ever get the whole story on how things went with Rhule over the past couple weeks, but I'd guess it wasn't nearly as smooth as we'll publicly be told it was. Yet, Trev ended up hiring the guy he wanted.

If and when he does an NU basketball coaching search, it will be done in the same manner. It's just who Trev is.

I don't know that he'll pull one of the top candidates for NU hoops like he did in football, but he also has / had a high success rate at UNO with hiring relatively unknown coaches / coaches from a lower level who've taken their UNO programs to higher levels than they were at previously. Considering the limited resources UNO has for everything outside hockey (and even for hockey when compared to the powerhouses), it's a pretty impressive hit rate.

I like the hire. But after Frost and Hoiberg I am in full prove it mode. I really like he has coached the line on both sides of the ball.

Yeah, if there's anything NU fans have learned in the past couple of decades, it's that no coaching hire is a sure thing. Unfortunately, we've had tons of life lessons on that one.

But I think Trev did as well as he possibly could have with Rhule. Hope he does the same when it's time to make the change in hoops. Trev does have a pretty good track record.

Matt, you may want to merge this with the football post.

That said, I am encouraged.  Rhule seems to build programs inside out and should have his eyes squarely on our offensive line.  He blends speed with power and that is music to my heart and soul.

As always, time will tell.

Not looking forward to the crowd that only shows up on this site to talk about coaching replacement rumors though it should be slightly less contentious as we wouldn't be replacing a winning coach.

Why are we even talking about a coaching change? If we didn't give Tom Osborne time, we wouldn't have any national championships in the '90s!

I wonder how much the new coach's contract is worth. And may I have the honor of the first post using his name as a pun? I will guess he may become known as the "Golden Ruhle".

With NIL, he who has the gold, makes the Rhules.  I think I read Carolina still owes him 40 million.  Maybe we can save some money on the front end of the contract.

I had a front row seat for North Dakota/Minnesota Hockey for a LONG time, & if you can get a Dean Blaise to Omaha I trust Trev’s judgment moving forward.

Yeah that was a massive get for Trev no doubt.  What would be the college hoops equivalent?  Bill Self to Nebraska maybe?

All due respect to Rapoport, I think I'll wait until tomorrow to see the conditions of the contract released. Doubt he has any sources inside the athletic department, and why would Rhule say anything?   I have a feeling Carolina is going to be paying some of this contract.  Remember when Bo went home to coach for next to nothing after NU fired him?
