God bless anyone who kept interest and hope after it went 51-39. Around that time, I think we gave up our 53rd offensive rebound/3 point combo of the game. And I still don't see how Banton (or even McGowens as of late) can be so bad at finishing at the rim.

On a positive note, it's nice to see Banton find his shot a bit. I don't mind when his feet are set. Hopefully TWO days off gets us ready for Saturday.

Interesting that it was mentioned...

Student athlete heath and wellness aside, it's nice that we can get some more reps on the season. At some point there will be some diminishing returns from a jam-packed schedule continuing to go forward though.

Then why did Nebraska do it?

Hoiberg said that travel/"future rest" considerations were one factor in the back-to-back. Not sure it was the wisest decision for health & safety reasons. The reps are good for various combos of players that looked to improve, namely Shamiel & Eduardo.

This team needs to play and get used to working with each other.  I was somewhat distracted trying to watch the men and listen to the women’s game.  It seemed to me Maryland figured out how to attack our defense and as a result, had many easy shots.  They also had our offense figured out and managed several steals resulting in easy buckets.

Purdue will bring plenty of toughness to the game Sunday.  Let’s hope we have something in the tank.

Notes from UNL

*-Teddy Allen finished in double figures for a team-high 17th time with a team-high 25 points. It marked his seventh 20-point game of the season.
*-Lat Mayen finished with 13 points as he reached double figures for the eighth time this season and sixth time in the last eight games.
*-Dalano Banton tied his career high with three 3-pointers going 3-of-6 from behind the line. He also had a trio of 3-points on two other occasions, most recently at Wisconsin on Dec. 22.
*-Nebraska committed 11 turnovers, its lowest total since returning from its pause on Feb. 6.
*-Tonight's game concludes a run of seven games in the last 12 days dating back to Feb. 6.
*-Tonight concludes Nebraska's first back-to-back games against the same opponent since 1976 and the first against a conference opponent since 1921.

Re: Nebraska's vs Michigan's schedules

Is anyone forcing us to play this many games?  It seems more like we want them to get experience and the conference is letting us.

Michigan is already in the tournament.  It would be dumb of them to burn out just to get in more games.

I was mad with the jam packed scheduling at first, but you’re right now it’s seeming like we’re choosing to do this rather than the B1G is making us. As players it’s gotta be awesome to just worry about games and not so much practice. And Fred’s basically coaching an NBA type schedule now so doesn’t really seem like he cares. The only issue is the fact that we’re not very good.

McGowens put up 5 and 0 points vs Maryland. He's been struggling in general offensively since coming back.

Trey is shooting 33% on 2-point shots in conference. He also has more turnovers (42) than assists (37) for the season. The concern before the season was his inefficiency and that has borne out this season.

Yeah he's basically Darryl Morsell without being able to finish at the rim.  It almost always looks like he's making some sort of difficult acrobatic shot when driving which on one hand is impressive that he can do but on the other hand explains why he isn't finishing. Not sure if he needs to try and draw more or less contact.

The Pitt fan base said as much when he decided to transfer from there.

IMO, less. If you are looking for contact, you are taking your focus away from the basket and decreasing your chances of finishing.
