Penalty box instead of freethrows?

Saw this suggestion on another board and while I am not necessarily an advocate I thought it would be an interesting  topic because I am tired of games running long and cutting into the televised start of Nebraska games due to the constant fouling & Freethrow shooting at the end of the games.   I know the "Elam Ending" was discussed but I don't remember if the penalty box idea was discussed.  Here are some links about the 2.   Would be interested to see where people land on this.

I do think the Elam Ending would be intriguing. If I could sign CBB up for a month trial with no commitment as long as I remembered to cancel my payment by the deadline, I'd do it.

@jimmykc I think that image not properly displaying on the site to the point where you know this is obviously what no one wants to see probably unintentionally brings home your thoughts on a basketball penalty box.

Agree it does cut into televised start of Nebraska games.  Can they make the rule with the Exclusion of Nebraska...so that if we cut into someone else's game they can't complain?

I don't think we have to worry too much this season about dragging out games into other game slots.

Being a Roller Derby Photographer the term "Penalty Box" is not a new term for me as a player has to sit in the box up to 2 minutes depending on the level of penalty the officials catch them on.

The NBA G League has 1 shot for 2 points free throws until the last two minutes of the game. It is totally possible that will be added to the NBA and then the NCAA in 5 years. Would that be an intriguing option?

I like the fact that they are using the G league to test new ideas to better the game.    This is another new idea I have not heard about.

I will vote for the penalty box IF, like hockey, we allow two players to go at it just because for extra penalty time AND we get a do-over with Cookie Miller and Grant Gibbs times at NU and CU.
