  1. Just great to be back in my seats and watching my Huskers play basketball.

  2. All Banton's points this season have come in the 4th quarter

  3. Brice scored 455 points last season. There is a chance he ends up scoring 1000 points for the Huskers despite only playing here for two seasons.

  4. When I heard about him and watched him, the immediate comparison for me was d walk too. I think getting a young big to supplement Berke and mast next year needs to be a priority. Perez can bounce between the 4 and 5, depending on who he shares the floor with. IF he signs in Nov, I think we have a great chance

  5. By the way, UTRGV went 13-41 from deep and we still won by 20. Last year when we gave up that many 3s: Iowa 15-35 (lost by 18) Creighton 14-40 (lost by 29) Illinois 13-35 (lost by 11) Purdue 13-33 (won by 16) Wisconsin 13-26 (lost by 16) A&M 13-23 (lost by 15) So this was a funky matchup given their play style, and considering we were outscored 39-18 from the 3 point line and still won by 20, that's encouraging. In many other older worlds of Nebraska Basketball we lose that game.

  6. Haven't seen this mentioned anywhere yet, but he visited Lincoln last weekend. From Italy, a Luca connection. A relative unknown until recently he kind of exploded at the U17 Basketball World Cup in July. On3 now has him ranked #23 in the class. That'll be borderline 5-star status. He doesn't have a profile on any other recruiting service yet. At the World Cup, he averaged 14.6 pts (58.6%FG), 8.6 reb, 4.6 ast. In the championship game against USA, he had 18 pts, 8 reb, 8 ast. About 6'9" 220 lbs. Wingspan is just shy of 7'. Plays below the rim. Doesn't shoot threes, but very skilled ball handler and passer for his size. Scrappy rebounder and efficient in the lane. Reminds of Derrick Walker. I'm an A'mare Bynum fan, but I'd actually choose this guy over A'mare. Let's reel him in. "Quick processor" stood out to me when watching his highlights. Seems to be able to see and feel the game faster than others on the court. From Jamie Shaw - “Unique would be a good way to describe Maikcol Perez’s game,” Shaw wrote in August. “The lengthy 6-foot-8 forward is a very quick processor with the ball in his hands. Throughout the U17 World Cup, Italy ran offense through Perez while lining him up on various areas of the court… “Perez finished with nine assists against Australia and followed that up with an eight-assist showing in the championship game against the USA. The intrigue comes with his uniqueness.”

  7. Yeah, it was a generic jersey from 2022. He had courtside seats, I hoped maybe someone in Denver knew the guy...

  8. Nebrasketball fan was standing beside Nuggets head coach Michael Malone last night. Noticed it several times, thought it was interesting. Anybody know this #22?

  9. Sounds like a good prospect for the Big Red. Nebraska needs to be unique in its recruitment process to stand out in their own right among the 18-team Big Ten. I like it a lot.

  12. Diop started last night and had 8&6 in 20 minutes without missing. Lloyd (if he's even a former husker given how his tenure went) had 6 on 2-8 from the field. Rice shockingly didn't play even though PSU cleared their bench. Didn't look to see if he was injured though. Think that's it

  15. Against the Pelicans last night, Dalano Banton scored 20 points in a mere 12 minutes on 8-9 shooting. 16. Agree completely. From what I have seen, eems pretty easy to tighten up this rotation. Unless there are injuries or unusual circumstances, Meah and Ulis are out. Roll with the remaining 8. Brice is the backup PG. Must have more shooting on the floor. Last night's starting lineup with three non-shooters in Worster, Gary and Meah was sluggish, clogging and a bit brutal to watch. With that said, would like to see Worster fire up a few more threes. He was not even looking at the basket from behind the arc until that three at the end of the game. Even if he only makes 30%, he needs to fire a few up just to keep the defense honest and create some gravity. Berke should be PF and backup center. BTW, Berke is listed on the roster at 6'10" and 244 lbs, which is the exact same height as Morgan and actually 2 pounds heavier. Berke could be that high post passing center similar to what Mast was last year.

  17. Vs smaller teams it seems like you can mostly roll with Morgan and Berke at the 5

  18. The demonstrative Berke reminds me a bit of Standhardinger

  19. Notes from UNL *-Nebraska’s 87 points is its highest total in a season opener since scoring 102 on McNeese State in 2020-21. *-Nebraska has won 13 straight games at home dating back to last season. *-Senior guard Brice Williams finished with 27 points, his highest total as a Husker. His previous high was 25 vs. Oregon State last year. *-Williams now has four straight 20-point efforts dating back to last season’s Big Ten Tournament. It marked the 18th 20-point game of his career. *-Rollie Worster nearly finished with a double-double with 18 points – one off his career high – and nine rebounds. Worster also had four of NU’s nine steals on the night. *-Nebraska forced 20 turnovers, its highest total since getting 21 turnovers against Kennesaw State on Dec. 22, 2021. *-Nebraska’s 35 free throws were its highest total since going to the line 36 times against Florida A&M last season. *-Nebraska got 27 points from its bench, including double-figure efforts from Connor Essegian (13) and Andrew Morgan (10). Essegian had 10 of his 13 points in the second half, including seven straight points in Nebraska’s 12-0 run. *-Nebraska outscored UTRGV, 40-18, in the paint in the win.

  20. Rollie, Gary, Connor, BT, Morgan. Brice was on the bench. Those 6, along with Gavin seem like our top 7. I think Sam and Meah will play when needed/match ups. Things could change though.

  21. It was certainly some ugly basketball especially in the 1st half. Things got a little cleaner in 2nd half but this team has alot of work to do in a short period of time if they don't want to get blown out by CU in a few weeks. I'm hoping we improve enough to beat St. Mary's next weekend as well. Lots of one on one basketball last night as ball seem to stick in peoples hand. I wasn't impressed with ball movement as seemed people tried to create their own shot instead of setting each other up. I've seen that brand of basketball at NU with teams under Fred and its never good. Just something to keep an eye on that ball movement really needs to improve. Conner - Really like this kid and think he is going to factor in the offense big time by the end of the season. Sam - NIce fill in player when needed but not expecting big minutes from him this year Ulis - didn't play alot. He didn't do anything great but nothing bad either Brice - Scored alot but seemed like he was a ball hog at times with no assists. Hope he doesn't get that mind set that every time I get the ball, I need to shoot. I'm sure they will watch film and point things out to him Juwan - Not a great start for him but not worried. He will be fine Berke - Nothing flashy but has huge upside. Will be interesting to see how he develops over the season with this team Gavin - Needs to get stronger. Had some good and bad moments but will be a nice player to come off the bench and further develop his game this season Morgan - Started out great with some nice down low moves. Could see him taking over for Braxon in starting lineup Rollie - Just solid. Braxton - Wow, he is offensively challenged. You can't teach size so nice to have him on the team for rebounds but based on what I saw, can't expect a lot of scoring from him.

  22. Gave up the middle defensively - so we overcompensated at times and left some of their guys pretty open. Our defensive effort tonight would not have translated well in say, the CHI in Omaha. Rollie is solid. Gavin has some spring to his game Connor found his shot compared to the exhibition Have some areas to improve. I don’t think we played all that well and still won by 20.

  23. This team has a lot to figure out - but none of it is unsolvable. Not necessarily missing any pieces, per se. Obviously you’d love a freak guard or some other nba guy, but I’m saying we at least don’t have “glaring holes.”
