  1. Synchronicity strikes again as Jimmy finds a link to the Owens family. While his Dad was KU coach and I was in high school, my Pop and I had seats behind the KU bench at the old Big Seven Xmas tourney in KC. Big Ted was angry at a ref's call and kicked a folding chair right into my leg. My own Dad wanted to sue him, but he did turn around and apologize to us afterward. Maybe I should be allowed to kick a chair into young Ted as a long postponed payback.

  3. See that is the crazy thing about the clearinghouse. They could say they have issues with his credits lining up. Or the institution they came from. Or that he can't produce enough evidence that he actually earned the credits. Here is the really devious thing. What if everything with Tai is great and above board AND the NCAA clears him but not until December? Or what if it takes until February? That doesn't help us a whole lot; at least for this year. Now, I am secretly getting more excited he will get cleared in time for the start of fall semester but I am only basing this secret excitement off of others peoples excitement. If you press a gun to my head I would say he has a better than 50% of being clear by start of fall semester. But publicly I want to keep up my pessimistic "don't get your hopes up" attitude.

  4. I guess I don't see the connection between the two things. The connection is that the NCAA was extremely generous with the Gibbs ruling. Gibbs didn't deserve the sixth year - he knows it, McDermott knows it, the CU compliance department knows it. He is extremely lucky to get it. If the NCAA doesn't allow Tai in, it will be yet another case of extreme inconsistencies shown by them regarding harshness v. generosity between various situations.

  5. Gosh, you are a gloomy GUS! You must subscribe to the "Every day is a shit sandwich" channel. Because you obviously believe that every day is going to be another bite. OR you could be a bluejay fan...yet, I doubt this! Signed, Subscriber to the "Every new NU coach is the last ingredient we need..and this one will get us to the Promised Land" channel. Yet, realize this time I know it will work.... AND I really believe this! Because this coach came into a place where he was plopped into a 1960's Mini van ...while knowing he would inherit a rocket! Here is a salute to the juxtaposing of the time and space that is the new wave NU BBall! ENJOY! P.S. PimpMario, Once it happens, Please, don't spray on me.

  7. I can't believe that the University and his parents and coaching staff would have him come to the States and start school if he wasn't okay to start. I can't think that "we" would pull a Robert Sallie within a five year period. But who knows?

  8. If the NCAA doesn't clear Tai Webster while they gave a gift to Creighton in granting Gibbs a sixth year (where a similar case had never been approved before), I will erupt.

  9. I'm not trying to bring you down here, but the following series of posts are what your "source" has offered you. I think you can see why you aren't getting much credit... First you said, "My source says SAT has nothing to do with it. The clearinghouse has to decide whether or not to allow his credits to transfer." --> Brian just wrote: "He recently met a qualifying score on his SAT - a major step in Webster gaining NCAA clearance." Clearly the SAT mattered. Then you said on June 25: "I'm hearing that we should know in 48 hours whether Tai is going to be eligible for this season. For sure by Friday." --> It's July 2, and we still know nothing about his eligibility. Then you said: "The clearinghouse has been reviewing Tai's case for a while now and were simply waiting for his SAT score. It won't take long for the clearinghouse to make this decision." --> So the SAT didn't matter at all as opposed to his credits transferring over, but the NCAA was just waiting for his SAT score the whole time? That doesn't make sense... Finally, you said: "I heard the university already found out whether he is eligible or not. I have no idea when they will announce what the decision was. If he is not eligible, they will probably appeal it which could take who knows how long." --> Tim Miles just told Brian Tai is not cleared by the NCAA yet. "It's just a matter of time. These things take time." It's good news that he is coming July 13 to be enrolled in classes. But nothing has changed on the central issue at hand: Tai has not been cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse. They could take right up until the season to do that...they could go well into the season. Nobody knows. Especially your "source". Just a suggestion, you may want to reconsider before using your "source" again. He has been right about basically nothing as far as Tai's eligibility goes. I have zero inside information and have been more correct in saying "The NCAA Clearinghouse has no timeline and drags these things out."

  10. He probably went back to Oklahoma to get into college coaching/get his masters. He then graduated and Oklahoma didn't have an open position. Kruger called up Miles and now he's at Nebraska.

  13. Does anyone know much about this guy? I don't really know much about him. I've read a lot about his dad, but not a lot about him. Also, what exactly will his job as "administrative coordinator" consist of? I'm not questioning the hire. I'm sure it is a good hire, because Miles seems to know what he is doing and I trust him. I was just curious to know more about him.

I guarantee that Craydumb was absolutely "shocked" that Gibbs got an extra year. If they thought that there was any chance of him getting a 6th year, they would have saved a scholly for him. Instead, Dougie M had to "fall on the sword" and give up his scholly for Gibbs.

  15. You guys are setting yourselves up for a hard fall. I still don't think there is any chance that Tai ever steps on the floor for dear ole' NU.
