Yeah, OK, Edwards was kind of a kick in the gut.  For me, that was mostly because I thought he looked like a legit player, which was amazing considering that he was still available when we found him.  So, just to locate a guy like that at that late date was a bit of a shock and can't feel too bad that we made his list but didn't become his pick.  I mean, the odds of finding a legit November-type player still available in March are so small that we were sort of playing with house money on that one anyway.

Had we landed Edwards, it would have been like Tim Miles pulling a rabbit out of his hat:  A solid player the likes of which aren't normally still on the market in March and getting into the discussion of landing him enough that we get a visit.  But the rabbit stayed in the hat and we now approach the first day of the late signing period still in need of a big man.

Considering the talent we have up and down the anticipated playing rotation -- Shields, White III, Morrow and Watson -- it would be a darn shame if we wind up going into next year still missing that other key ingredient: the post presence who can defend, board, and occasionally score.

Tim, you almost pulled off the appearing rabbit act with Edwards.  But time's running short and we still need a big in the biggest way.  At this point, I don't care if you pull the rabbit out of your hat or out of your arse; I just want to see you work some magic between now and the trip to Spain.

Peace, out.

I agree that we need something, but you can't force kids to go here.  Thats the thing... you can recruit the kid, go see him, and him come see you... but at the end of the day, you can't make him come here.  I think we all agree that Tim can recruit and that he is looking for certain types of players.  It just sucks that we can't find a big that wants to be here, buttttt if they do not WANT to be here than I say fine and move on.  We don't need anymore players that do not WANT to be here.

If you are a grad transfer big, I cant see how you wouldn't have Nebraska as a possible destination (homer alert).  We have facilities that could be a 5 star resort (when your not kicked out of them), you will most likely be a starter the second you step on campus, and you will be playing in the best basketball conference in the nation. Hopefully this is Miles "rabbit".

The problem with a senior transfer bug guy is that every team in the country is interested in them. They have their pick of offers and will tend to select schools expected to make the postseason since it is their last chance to make it.

Been using these things as to why can't we get a big.

is it too late to convince petteway and pitchford to come back?

Petteway isn't officially gone (as of yet). Pitch is done, though.

One wonders if a grad transfer such as Tyler Harris could be a good fit for a team in need. Long shot, maybe. Worth a shot, definitely!

The thing that concerns me is our recruiting seems to be back where it was before last year's magical run. After that we put together a really solid group of commitments. But since the air came out of the balloon, we've lost players and haven't (so far) shown signs of being able to get better replacements. For all the talk of facilities and fan support, I fear the main tool we lack right now is the ability to sell this program as a winner.
