Rough day so far for the Big 12, and particularly the state of Texas.

 

According to my calculations, Stephen F Austin is the only Texas school left in the tourney already...and they play Utah tonight.

Hey Dimes, can we move this thread into the "Haymarket Hardwood" section next year? I miss Nebrasketball having a little number in front of its name on a bracket.

Commentator: "These Buckeye freshman are fearless." That kind of resonated with me. I suppose that's one of the biggest setbacks we had going into this year. Our team was too worried about falling short than they were about just getting after it and taking risks.

I actualy think they could have reviewed it and assessed a flagrant one as the Louisville defender lowered his shoulder onto the cal Irvine guard....no attempt at the ball and excessive foul.

I know, I know... preaching to the choir, but here's a few observations on some of the "upset" games I'm seeing:

 

1) There is some serious ball movement taking place on offense.

2) Players are finding any way to get the ball into the paint.

3) The players bounce back quickly after a setback and when they have the lead they keep pushing to extend the lead.

4) (Probably our biggest setback this year) the upset teams are draining their three-point shots. And frequently.

 

If you accomplish at least 2 of 4, you're in pretty good shape.

Maryland with awful luck tonight.  Trimble gets hurt and they drew the worst refs in the tournament.

A bright spot in our national passion with sports betting: the KU loss to Wichita State was not nearly as devastating when you picked the Shockers to move on in your bracket. I would really be sitting in the catbird seat if Northern Iowa had not choked in the final game last night and if Hugs Thugs had not been allowed to wear brass knuckles.
