It will be interesting to hear what Miles says about playing only 7 players.  I have to agree we should have had Nick and/or Jacob in there for a short spell.  In the first half that is.  Once he got sucked into that 7 man rotation, I don't think it would have been wise to throw either of them in during the final 10 minutes.

not to mention Webster only played 7 minutes. Gotta wonder how much left we'll have in the tank on thursday.

Post game notes

*-Nebraska held Loyola Marymount to 28 percent, the lowest by a Husker opponent in the Tim Miles era (previous low  was 29.2 by Penn state in the 2012-13 season) and the lowest since North Dakota shot 25 percent during the 2010-11 season.

*-This is NU’s third OT game of the year, the most since the 2007-08 season, and NU is now 2-1 in OT games this season
*-Petteway finished with 16 points, his 22nd consecutive game in double figures.
*-The 16 first-half points allowed by the Huskers is a season low and the second-lowest allowed by NU in Miles’ three seasons.

Check out Rivers' line.  Very little production in 36 minutes.  Coach mentioned on his show that Dave wasn't playing as aggressively as needed.  Last year he could, and did, bench him until he got the message.  This year, right now, there just isn't the depth to allow that.  If we can get some minutes at the 5 from Moses and Jake, perhaps Walt can take some of Dave's minutes at the 4.  Or, perhaps Dave will get it going without the need to observe for awhile.

Memories....fuzzy....

We scored 14 points in the 2nd half. We scored 15 in OT.

Tai only played 7 minutes...Tarrin played 25

We took 38 shots last night...the big 3 took 30 of them

Only 13 turnovers tonight though LMU doesn't really force them. Shavon had 7.

LMU grabbed 16 offensive rebounds.  Some of that was a function of missing 36 shots but it was a problem. Walt pulled down 8 boards...his third game in a row with 8 or more

In games where we get outshot by 10+ attempts, we have to make and take FTs. We went 16-19 last night.

We forced 4-5 shot clock violations

We held LMU to 28% shooting and .71 Pts/poss

All I can say is we are lucky Hank Gathers and Bo Kimble were not on the floor tonight because our offense wouldn't have been able to keep up with them.

I think Hank Gathers was rolling over in his grave last night with his alma mater scoring 35 points in a regulation game.  The Gathers/Kimble teams would have that many sometimes by the 2nd media timeout.

I just wanted folks to know that old Jimmy watched this one live. I can't say how many times I thought , screw it, and reached for the record button. It became a personal thing, like paying for a very large bowl of broccoli and then after taking a few bites and getting full telling yourself to finish it because you paid for it and people are starving in other parts of the world. Only this game certainly didn't have much in the way of nutritional value. On a brighter note, I guess we can all raise our glasses of nog and toast spending a festive Christmas afternoon together.

Wow.  The box score indicates 7,140 attended.  They all must have been sitting in the back row.   ;)

We played a 7-man rotation, but really only played 6 with Tai logging only 7 minutes.  Ohio isn't going to be an easy game.

I'm really pulling for Mike Dunlap to elevate the LMU program just so the obligatory mention of Kimble and Gathers isn't the only LMU anecdote that announcers can mention. As someone who was in college at the time and following hoops, I appreciate the nostalgia, but the 1990s are ancient history.

It would be nice if the talking heads could come up with new and interesting things to say about each team each game. I watched a little of WSU vs LMU and heard/saw the same information on LMU that they shared in the Nebraska vs LMU game. Doesn't it make sense that the same folks are going to watch all the games involving a team, night to night? The announcing on EA Sports games has more variety.
