Trimmed his list down to:

Ohio State

Indiana

Iowa State

Notre Dame

Louisville

This is why I always get a good chuckle when so many people say "we need to get a qualifty 5th year transfer big man".  Ya!  Duh!  And so does every other school in the country.  And I hate to break it to everyone, but we just aren't at the top of every transfers list even if we did make the tourney this year.  There are still plenty of schools with more tradition, prestige and promise to woo these kids ahead of us.  This kid Anthony Lee isn't even an elite level player, yet within just a few days he has schools like Ohio St., Indiana, Iowa State and Louisville on his short list.  I am not saying it is 100% impossible, b/c anything is possible.  But the odds of NU getting a quality 5th year transfer big man are very, very, very low until or unless we improve our status to be on par or even significantly better than those schools listed above.

Miles is still in the building stage.  He is going to have to build this from the ground up.  Regular transfers who have to sit a year are in considerably greater abundance and that may still be a viable option.  Unfortunately, even if Miles can snag an underclassman big man transfer, that will not help us next year when we have a good chance to make a nice run.

With all this said, if Miles can somehow snag a quality 5th year transfer big man for next year, I will joyfully eat crow salute the man Miles, but I just don't see it happening.

We need a player like Colton Iverson who isn't required to sit out a year.

It's still amazing that Tim Miles could pull Colton Iverson out of Minnesota to Colorado St., especially since Colton would go on to become the 53rd pick of the 2013 NBA draft.

No surprise ISU is on the final list esp considering his parents live in Iowa.

But when it comes to transfers what does ISU have that we don't?  ISU is getting great players via the transfer route ever since Hoiberg took over.  I think we need to follow that formula esp considering 2 of our best players are transfers.  We should continue to go after these transfers with high upside that are looking for new homes.  Think this is the route we need to go in order to keep the talent flowing year after year with guys ready to play & who know the system.

BTW, the reasons that we're a hot prospect for potential assistant coaches are the same reasons why I disagree with NUdiehard about our prospects for landing a senior transfer.  Yeah, we're not Louisville, but we can promise an immediate opportunity for playing time where they won't be competing with 5-star, one-and-done players.  A good big who's a senior transfer could walk into a starting job here on a team that has all the rest of the pieces to be a Sweet 16 team.  Or better.
