6'8 Power forward out of Lexington, KY.  3 star with some pretty good offers.

Reading that article....while I appreciate this staff's persistent recruiting approach aggressively going after prospects, it looks like this prospect will be tough to land given all his dad's connections to other programs.

I almost wish we had another recruiting board strictly for the guys we have a real shot at as opposed to just any guy potentially on our radar.  Just feel like there are a lot of false alarms.  When things get real and you get a visit, maybe promote them to the legit candidates recruiting board or something.  When the season is going so well and you have so much on the court to be happy for, it's kind of a downer seeing names like Dickerson and Atwood appear to fall off our board.

Tell me who are the guys coming in for visits and let's leave a board for that.

(I know that's too much to ask for and I'm not serious but thanks everyone for letter me vent.)

Well, you could have Dimes pin all the official visitors at the top..then you could just pay attention to those that are pinned and ignore the rest.

Yeah, like that's how you got over 11k posts...by only paying attention to the really vital stuff! ;)

Just think of this board like you're at a bar when you were in college.  You talked to a bunch of girls (each recruit posted) but by the end of the night there was only one, maybe two if you were lucky, that you ended up with.  This is just our version of the bar.  We can get excited, upset, frustrated etc about each one just like we all did when we were young with the ladies.

Perhaps you mean to say it's disappointing that Tim Miles & Co. are no longer pursuing Dickerson as strongly as they were? It seems entirely possible (if not probable) that Tim Miles decided he has an easier task of winning-the-locker-room and the B1G championship with Smith than with Dickerson. And, if accurate, that would seem to be more of an upper than a downer.

No, Swan, I'm talking about how you get excited about a new name that comes on our radar screen and you amp up some level of hope and interest and start looking at his stats and then ... nuttin.

I know it might be a bit premature, but I'm getting a bit antsy for the next commit.

I like the idea of pinning the official visitor threads to the top.  That might help a bit.

Problem is, a lot of times we discuss a recruit that we think we have a good shot at for months and then one day it is announced suddenly that they are visiting.

I agree.  Like I said, I'm just getting antsy for that next commit.

I want to land top 100 kids...

and so does everyone in the country.  Nebraska has NEVER been a winner in hoops and is one of two "BCS" schools to never win a NCAA game.  It will take some time but the trend is there but Rome wasnt built in a day and neither will this downtrodden program.  Its tough to polish a turd but Miles is working some magic.

When did they start to give out starts and tell who the top 100 are, ect...

Did Lue have any stars or Pike?

I'm just asking because I really don't know, and if we are talking about no top 100 or that Hammonds is our first 150, I just wanted to know why those two would not of been rated that high.

Rivals database dates back to 2002. Hammond is the first in that time.  Obviously NU has had a few high level recruits, he is the first in that 12 year period to be a top 150 guy.

Thanks to me it is one of those things that just kind of came about.

If Tim Miles is accurate about getting better recruits to commit after we win, and particularly when we make the Dance and make some noise there, then here is saying "cheers" to only signing one this past November and "hallelujah" for the coaching staff's discipline and patience in holding back on commitments--which allows for the impact of the current winning streak and, hopefully, the upcoming Dance experience to take hold on the recruiting front. Who knows what could happen if Nebrasketball turns into Cinderella!

Patience is a virtue . . . and it has a potential for very high rewards in this situation!
