Awesome news!!!  IIRC, can't new recruits join them on such adventures?  I believe they can.  I believe the rules permit, somehow, for a new recruit to participate in a foreign trip like that.

Is Iowa going on a European vaca this summer?  Or one to Australia?  Listen, would you rather play in Carver-Hawkeye next fall and hang out in Williston, North Dakota this summer ...

OR WOULD YOU WANT TO GO ROCK ON IN EUROPE WITH THE HUSKERS AND COME BACK TO THE PINNACLE BANK ARENA IN THE FALL?

Easy choice.  Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

By the way, in case I didn't make this clear earlier, I think this is a BFD that we're taking this trip.  And I think it could be a huge recruiting benefit, especially with any jucos on our radar.  And the reason I think so is that, every thing else being mostly equal, this would certainly tip the scales, getting to travel to a place you've likely never been before and get to see and do things (as well as play basketball) on someone else's dime while being treated like a rock star.  And jucos, who have relatively less time to spend at their ultimate destination, would factor an opportunity like this into the equation with a little more weight.

I could spend my last two years of college at Iowa or I could spend my last two years of college at Nebraska.  And if I go to Nebraska, I can travel with them when they take a trip to Australia this summer.  Suh-WEET!  Where do I sign?

Iowa would go on a tour of Emporia, Kansas Twinkie factory to master the art of filling up on cupcakes. #FranSchedulingTroll

Has Fran been following the advice of a message board poster who doesn't spell too well?

(Too soon?)

Or maybe, just maybe Fran is Icedragon and Icedragon is Fran!

Einhorn is Finkle. Finkle is Einhorn! Einhorn is a man! Oh my god!

If recruits get on campus and take summer classes they can go on the foreign tour.

Sorry to be the killjoy if you were planning to follow the team Down Under this summer ;) , but the LJS kind of buried this in the middle of the season recap in Sunday's newspaper. That's too bad, as I thought the trip would have been a nice way to quickly integrate the newcomers onto a veteran team.

Because of the long trip [to Hawaii], Miles said he'll likely postpone a summer exhibition tourney, originally set for Australia, for one year.

i think this makes a lot of sense.  We have a veteran team returning, so the return on investment would be less than if you had a lot of newcomers.  I would think the risk of doing a trip like this is you end up with burned out players by the month of March.

I completely understand the newcomers point and wanting a team with a bunch of new guys to have more playing time together.  We saw how we started playing better together throughout this past season.

I don't understand players being "burnt out" in March because of a trip 1- 2 week trip the previous summer.  Say they go next summer, when will they be burned out the following season? Hawaii in December, Australia in the summer, are they burnt out to start the 2015-2016 season?
