GoBigRed Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Guys anyone who has watched practice and has seen this team up close knows that tim and staff teach the right things. I have heard it plenty of times up close. Some of these guys have really bad habits and it gets magnified in these games. Ray has taken that shot off of a screen his whole career. Maybe so, but they have clearly not gotten through to the players how critical every possession is in the Big Ten. You can't just go 4 minutes jacking up shots and throwing the ball to the other team or out of bounds and ever win a game. Don't me get started on defensive lapses. Miles is a very patient coach, and sometimes I think to a fault. Quote
huskerbaseball13 Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014     Pathetic coaching. We jack up an off balance three with 1:30 left down five, then foul with 11 seconds on the shot clock.. Are you so sure that's coaching? I would saw some of it is for sure.........although, can't blame Miles for Shields missing two free throws. Although, he does seriously need to consider cutting Shields minutes at this point if thats even possible. Shields has been pretty mediocre for awhile now. Who is he going to play? Vooch, Rivers or Hawkins. take your pick.    If Shields isnt healthy....then he should not be getting the minutes he is getting. Especially with the way he is playing. Quote
hskr4life Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Well kiss a fat lady right on the behind... Shields needs to sit... Period. Quote
colhusker Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Well ding dang dong, let another one we should have won slip away. Going to take Christmas tree down and then chase bald eagles. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Much of this is execution. We still breakdown, perhaps it is that the players try to hard. This is a good coaching staff. We are close. Very close.Close only counts in hand gernades and well you know what I mean. These are games we should win. And back seats at an outdoor movie. Quote

nuled2dance Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 It's the hand he is dealt at this time some of these transfers miles had to take a chance on. Imagine where we would be without them have you seen out bench? Tim is building a program from the basement up...not even the ground. Doc crushed this program. We will get there just takes time. Losing is frustrating but this team is a few years away. Debate it or not its a fact. Gotta gel ice him time we all want to win now but we signed tim to build a program and no matter how nice a building we have it takes time. We need to get some wins though to help recruiting Quote
GoBigRed Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 I don't feel it's coaching. Tim miles doesn't draw that up. We still have some guys with selfish tendenciesCoach's job is to teach his players how to handle these situations. Gallegos doesn't take that shot any other time in the game, down 5 with 1:30 left you still run your offense to get a good shot. Are you watching games? Most of his shots are like that. Petteway is by far the worst offender of bad shots. Just because a few go in, doesn't mean it was a smart shot. I see his selfish tendacy hasn't left. I hate to say that because without him, we have a few more losses. Every game. He takes shots off screens but mostly in the flow of the offense and with his feet set. That was early in the shot clock with two Purdue defenders right up on him at a time when we especially needed a good shot. I realize Petteway does the same crap but he's bad about it all game long, I generally don't have a problem with Rey's shots. Quote

doc1394 Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Disappointing game to say the least. I know miles said there would be a roller coaster ride, but you just wonder when we'll get a high point again. Quote

Rebuilding again? From what I gather from our current recruits Hammond and Pinder we should not expect either one to come in and contribute much right away. The next round of recruits are going to be very critical.  Quote

HuskerFever Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Would've, could've, should've... but if we squeezed out a win in those last 2 games, we would have been 7th in conference play. Quote
nuled2dance Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Recruiting cycle is very critical. Always great to be 0-4 with the buckeyes coming to town lol Quote
The_Vault Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Sit Shields and don't take Biggs out with 5 to play. In the michigan game and this game when Tim pulled Biggs things fell apart Quote

Ron Mexico Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Two major problems with this team right now: 1. We seem to play out of sync at times. 2. There is a lack of mental toughness. Â Both of these issues are always magnified in games when the situation is tight. We need a score(Michigan game), a rebound or a defensive stop. Not going for the flashy ally oop dunk but instead taking the easy layup. Not having mental lapses that turns a 2 point deficit into an 8 point deficit(Purdue). Do these things and we are 2-2 in the conference play. Quote
