Per Rosenthal, Hawkins (foot) and Gallegos (Strained hip) aren't playing against UNK

That's too bad about Hawkins(and Rey)...but it would be nice to see the young guys get as many minutes as possible.  Depending on how severe the injury is I hope they consider redshirting Hawkins.

Anyone want to back up MenkeDog at shooting guard tonight?

If all I have to do is stand there and shoot sure! In my advancing age that seems to be my favorite thing in pick up games.

In one of those practice videos on tumblr, Smith looked in real pain just by jogging a bit.  Please don't be one of those chronic big man knee issues.

Just watch the practice video on the homepage with Smith, Rivers and Vooch.  Smith takes about two steps and begins to wobble like he is about to collapse.  Based on that video, his knees appear to be a huge issue.  I'm guessing this is the reason not many other teams offered him a scholarship.

Logical leaps.  You need to fill in some gaps.  A basketball player nursing an injury during practices leading up to the first game does not, by itself, support the conclusion that other programs didn't offer him because of it.  I didn't see any evidence of him having mobility problems at the open scrimmage.

from a person who rehabbed a broken fibula, and played football the next season, i can say that some practices, and games, you feel real good, and than some days it just feels like dog poop, and you know it right away. i feel like smith will get it going this may just take time. this also may be a small issue that he tweaked it a little bit and its take some time to recover.
