Saw this over on another board (I'm openly admitting I didn't locate this on my own) but I still thought it was worth throwing out there for discussion.  Eight Huskers make the list, which is more than Michigan State, Purdue or Penn State, and tied with Ohio State.

Not sure how accurate that can possibly be.  But, have fun and discuss.

Noah Vonleh from Indiana jumps out as the high rated freshmen on that list.

Anyone want to take a stab at putting together the full list of freshmen rated higher than Tai Webster on that list?

I'll take a stab at it, dimes.

18. Noah Vonleh, Indiana. FR

22. Derrick Walton, Michigan. FR

27. Kam WIlliams, Ohio State. FR

28. Marc Loving, Ohio State. FR

40. Stanford Robinson, Indiana. FR

42. Sanjay Lumpkin, Northwestern.  RS-FR

43. Tai Webster, Nebraska.  FR

Iowa, Penn State, Minnesota, Purdue, Illinois and Michigan State all have no freshmen on their roster rated higher than Tai Webster.

I think the guy took a long look at returning minutes.  That's the only way you get some of the outcomes you get.  Pitchford will be our starter.  Parker will be sitting a lot, in all probability.  But, hey, I have no magic answer on how to arrive at a pre-season top 100 players, so this list is as good as any I could come up with.

I don't really understand this. I mean, how important is a top 100 list and how accurate are his guesses once you get outside the top 10? There might be 10 players that seem to rise above all the others and then beyond that you could have an "others to watch" list added to it. If you figure there's 12 B1G teams, then pretty much all players inside of each teams meaningful rotation are going to find themselves on the list. How you go about sorting out the bottom 90 players on the list, I have no idea.

Probably why the other list on there is a top 20

Oh, nice. I didn't scroll far enough down to see the top 20 list the first time. 100 seems like a little much to me.

My other thoughts about the top 100. According to the list we have the worst best player of any B1G team as all the other 11 teams appear on the list prior to Gallegos at 33. And David Rivers is the 60th best player in the league! It bodes well for us if Rivers is considered #60 yet he is not even projected to be one of our starters.

The fact that Parker is even on this list, and to add to it that he's ahead of Walt is absolutely ridiculous

Parker has accomplished more in his college career than Walter has.  Facts are facts.

Well, several teams had their entire two-deep in the top 100.  And then I think Penn State didn't even get all of their starters.

But State did get two of the top six.  That's got to be worth something.

After 6 players for each team how important can they really be?  I mean the top 50 would have been a much more relevant list in my opinion.   How important is it that Nebraska's 8th player is better than MSU's when MSU's 8 player may never see the court?

Here's the thing about that, though.  Newbill is a guard who benefitted statistically from Frazier being injured.  He's not going to probably have the touches with Frazier back that he had with Frazier out.  One of them is going to suffer, anyway.  It might be Frazier, actually.  But you're not going to take their point totals from last year and add them together, in all likelihood, to determine what they'll be scoring this year.

But, yes, it's worth something.  They have two outstanding guards.  Wouldn't say they're both top 6 players in the league, though.  That's probably overstating things a bit.  But, we'll see.

I don't doubt that at all...but having two guys who can get it done at the guard position can help a team make some things happen.  If one of them goes down, the other is there to pick up the slack (as he's had to do in the past).

Good stuff, Norm!
