Yeah. Especially considering they just lost to a Canadian college team a couple weeks ago. Buncha hosers.

Ermmmm. Yeah. They're not exactly stepping out on a ledge for a decent squad in a 10-team league. G'town and 'Quette will be near the top. Nova and SJU should be better. Providence is on the verge of finally doing something again (may not be this year though). And Xavier/Butler are kind of unknowns. They could really finish anywhere from 1st to 7th.

That same Canadian college team is 126-4 over the past 6 years...it's also the same team that took Syracuse to overtime a couple nights later.   (oh, and they only led by like 17 points in the second half over the 'Cuse) - I just happened to catch that game on TV last weekend.

Carleton Ravens.  They have won 9 out of the last 11 Canadian national championships.

That Canadian team does not suck.

Hey 126-4 is crap, I mean look at the globetrotters record if you want impressive!

I'm aware.

It was mostly in jest (see: "hosers"). But let's just take this a little further. It's CANADA. We're not talking about Euro pros or some country's national team. It's a Canadian college team. This is sorta like those arguments of "Could the '95 Huskers have beaten the worst NFL team in a real game?" or "Could 2012 Kentucky have beaten the Charlotte Bobcats?". TCU shouldn't even be losing to the best Canadian college team (Son. I am disappoint.).

Wisconsin lost by 13 and gave up 95 points. Sure, they played with different rules, but c'mon, this is supposed to be a defense-first team (Syracuse held them to 65 with OT). Also, that Syracuse team lost three starters, is breaking in an entirely new backcourt, and their best player was injured (played injured, made it worse, and sat much of the 4th/entire OT).

Frankly, I think IU and Wisconsin should be swapped in this poll. And I don't know how OSU stays in the top 15. Did Craft develop more game than just fouling everyone?

I think they probably put Wisco at #4 on reputation alone.  Bo Ryan has never finished lower than 4th in the B1G.  Iowa is everybody's darling this year so that's why they're getting the love over Indiana.  Really, I don't see much wrong with the poll I guess.  I mean, until Wisconsin does something that gives me reason to believe they won't finish top 4, they deserve that ranking.  Same thing with us, really.  Until we do something to prove we don't belong last, we deserve to be picked last.

But like I always say.  Every year they pick us last.  And apart from two or three times that I can recall we -- don't -- finish last.

Dead last, Really? Crow, like revenge, is a dish best served cold.

Cold crow, eh?   Hmmmm.

I think my personal preference would be warm to hottish for the crow.  Pan sear it in some reserved bacon fat and then deglaze the pan with a little port wine and make a reduction with shallots and cremini mushrooms.  Crumble the bacon and add it back into the sauce and serve with the crow over a bed of polenta.

Now, the revenge, yes, best cold.  No question.  With toast points and a nice Chardonnay.

You forgot your wine pairing for the crow, Norm.  Tsk!  :)

I'd pair it with a pilsner or maybe an IPA.  How 'bout dat?

I don't believe the idea of somebody else eating crow calls for anything else that is good...certainly not as good as IPA....how about serving Mad Dog 20/20 or Night Train?

Honestly, I'm not sure how you rate us much higher than 12th.

We're essentially a complete mystery.  Couple that with the last 3 years.  Can you blame them?

Why can't you rate us higher than PSU?

They return Tim Frazier although it's not clear how well he'll bounce back from what can be a career-ending injury.

But Jermaine Marshall, their other high-scoring guard, transferred, which leaves them with Jr. DJ Newbill, who's pretty good but not any better, really, than Shavon Shields.

So Frazier and Newbill are really their only two scoring threats returning.  And they had a fairly pedestrian recruiting class.  One kid that had some decent offers.  Another kid who really only had PSU as a high major offer.  So it's not like they bring in any great players either.

Granted, I'm not super familiar with PSU and this is just what I've dug up in a few seconds on Rivals.  Is there anything I've missed?

Why can't you rate us higher than Northwestern?

Northwestern loses three of their top 4 scorers from a year ago (not counting Drew Crawford who returns for a 5th season after season-ending shoulder surgery 10 games into last season.)

Rivals shows them having 1 recruit coming in who had mostly mid-major offers.  And they redshirted three freshmen from last year who had no significant offers coming out of HS so you wouldn't expect them to be world beaters this year.

They bring back Drew Crawford (from sitting out most of last year with a shoulder injury), and frankly not a lot else.  Unless I'm missing something.

So, there.  I've moved us into 10th place.  Hey, it's better than a kick in the butt.

I don't know, Norm....at least I felt better about it last year when I could see we were not holding up the bottom of the pyramid.

I am not sure who may fall below us, but we should climb to at least the 8/9 position this year....

and hopefully gain enough experience along the way that getting to the NIT Final 4 is not out of the question!! ?/!

We need to progress...It is the Miles' way!

(Norm, I do recall you mentioned 6th place earlier in this thread...FROM YOUR FINGERS TO GOD"S EYES!...this age of technology)

I always want "my players" aiming higher than I should reasonable expect...however, the above is a step I believe this team can make.

Some of the naysayer articles we have seen don't seem to recognize our redshirts exist or that the incoming freshmen have at least a modicum of talent....for instance, see the article 49r posted earlier...

http://board.huskerhoopscentral.com/topic/2762-bt-powerhouse-three-reasons-nebrasketball-will-be-better-in-2013/

Complimentary article about why we should be better....but there is not one freshmen or transfer mentioned....and this from people that purport to know what they are talking about! Let them be surprised.

I know we have not seen the newbies much (and we may be drinking Kool-Aid) but TM's history tells me the Kool-Aid is good so...believe, step forward and drink up.
