ajb5856 Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 When can we expect a Robin update of the Elbert situation clarifying his interest level? Quote
colhusker Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Add in Rosenthal mentioned he is coming. Quote
hhcmatt Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Something's odd. He wouldn't have just scheduled an official visit if he had no interest. In less than 24 hours, he goes from visiting to no interest? One of these is unreliable. Not sure which but we'll find out soon enough. Obviously it's a mistake. There are a lot more glamorous places than Lincoln, NE to use an official visit while having no interest Quote
hhcmatt Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Saturday, September 7, at 1:00 p.m., Nebraska volleyball take on Georgia; at 5:00 p.m., Nebraska football takes on Southern Miss. If I was Tim Miles, I'd be tempted to make sure Elbert sees those really tall girls in spandex before he leaves Lincoln. Everybody should see them at least once, Norm. HUBBA HUBBA!! I know Miles has a lot of pull at Nebraska, but do you think he's connected enough yet to score volleyball tickets? Quote
colhusker Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Maybe he reads this board and saw that Norm mentioned tall girls in spandex! Quote

bobcat402 Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 just for comparison, Hibbert was 7'1 250 in high school. Elbert will have to put in a lot of work to be a 30 min a night player. it also took hibbert 3 years to be 30 min a night player..i watched almost every GTOWN game possible during his career, it wasnt until his junior year before he even resembled anything of a big east center...my expectations are somewhat similar for Elbert. bobcat402 Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 mark me down as confused..why would some make a visit in two weeks. than the next trim that school of their offer list..... Quote
Badgett Fan Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 mark me down as confused..why would some make a visit in two weeks. than the next trim that school of their offer list..... probably cause he hasn't trimmed that school from his list. the scout list at issue does not have Georgetown on it at all, nor does it have Georgia Tech, the school he is visiting this weekend. Miles ahead of the rest Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 Scout also shows that Texas and Baylor haven't offered him while rivals says both have. So there's another dispute in the sites. Quote

Swan88 Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 For those who don't have access to the Husker Rivals Premium Tunnel Talk, you need to purchase that access [i will then demand a finder's fee] and read the portion of today's Tunnel Talk on Robinson. It has some background information on the Husker's chances with him. Quote

In summary, Elbert's family has handed over all of his recruitment to his AAU coach who happens to be a huge Husker football fan. Robinsons family is very reserved yet Kenya Hunter has formed a very close relationship with them. When Kenya came here, Nebraska became an immediate option. The family, the AAU coach, and Elbert will all be here next weekend. trickey and hhcmatt 2 Quote
The Coach Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 From Sam McKewon: Robinson averaged 20 points, 17 rebounds and four blocks over the summer, shot 78 percent from the free-throw line and lost 20 to 30 pounds. Lawrence Johns, his AAU coach, said he projects well as a “true center” in the NBA. Johns compared Robinson's skill set to that of Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert. “Elbert's the last of the Mohicans,” said Johns, who counts among his friends former Nebraska defensive tackle Neil Smith. “He's a dying breed. He wants to go somewhere where he can play.” NU will be the second of Robinson's official visits. Georgia Tech is the destination this weekend. The elder Robinson said Ohio State, Texas A&M and TCU are other major contenders for his son. “He's kind of of the mind that he wants to make his own mark,” he said. Quote
Cookie Belcher Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 Well that all sounds fantastic. Come on down, Elbert. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 I like the "make his own mark" comment. That suggests a willingness to go away from the traditional name schools and attend a place where you'll maybe be more remembered. Aaaaaaand, I guess Scout was wrong. Heh, heh. (Now, if we can just convince Jonah Bolden to make his own mark at Nebraska.) Quote

Not sure if we will land him but I have to think we have a serious shot. Not easy to beat out some home schools and OSU but we have some things in our favor IMO. This would be a HUGE get in more ways than one. Love that free throw percentage for a big man also... Quote
